Schilling Restaurant & Bar reviews
13 Yuck. Cheesy McLardabarf.
Okay, trying to be a bit more helpful, the spaetzle was smothered-nay, swimming-in gooey, flavorless cheese. Was like something out of Olive Garden. The schnitzel literally looked battered and deep-fried.
It was so cozy and very delicous. Every dish was an experience. The waiter was so welcoming and the staff was super friendly. I could recommend the Schilling Restaurant & Bar warmely and from the button of my hart.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly, familiar - just nice.and the food is just great. You feel comfortable here!
While tasty, the food wasn't as authentic-ly delicious as expected, especially the potato salad. Otherwise, the service and experience was very pleasant! Would recommend trying out the Schnitzel (pork, the chicken wasn't as good) if you yourself haven't been to Austria/Germany and had it there yet.
Great service and dimly lit dining room, it's great to grab a beer after a long day of work. I recommend the burger, it was amazing, with their homemade ketchup
Brussels sprouts were a bit burnt. The medium burger, on the other hand, was top cooked, but ZERO seasoned. I'm Austrian and in solidarity, but 4 stars are already overrated compared to other locations in NYC
This place serves Austria/German dishes and drinks.
It gives you the vibe of European culture. The venue itself has retro industrial decor with exposed red brick wall and metal pipes.
Friendly staff and service was fast.
Food was delicious, little pricey though
Word to management, PLEASE fix the front door, it's so loud when it closes with a loud bang which interruptes the customer conversation.
Went here for dinner. Place was pretty packed and they were running behind on getting us a table, so we ended up getting a smaller one, which was fine. Staff was really friendly and helpful, and answered all of our questions about the menu really well! We got the house fries, the crispy hen-of-the-woods appetizers and for the main course we got the Schnitzel and the Spätzle. The main courses were alright but we did love the appetizers. The portion sizes were insane and we saw practically everyone taking the leftovers home in boxes. We liked their cocktails as well, and the bar staff was very nice in making a mocktail version of a cocktail for me too!
What a lovely dining experience!
My friend and I went to Schilling on a rainy and cold night to catch up. Inside was cozy, warm, and inviting. Service was amazing and friendly, and server was very knowledgeable. Food was to die for and hit the spot. They were also great with my allergies. Can't wait to go back!
Are here several times during different seasons. The menu adjusts seasonally but includes staples. The schnitzel and spaetzel are my favorites, but the trout is awesome. Always a great time. Reservations are recommended as it can get crowded
Nice rustic decor. Excellent service. All food was tasty, high-quality dishes, and down to the fresh herbs and salad, sides, and even homemade ketchup and aioli. Burger and smoked trout were favorites. Beautifully made cocktails were ok but will stick to wine next time.
For schnitzel
Thank you @schillingnyc for having me and @new_york_noms! The food was absolutely amazing, and this reel is just part one of what we tried. They were so generous in bringing out so much more food than we asked for me. I expected the Michelin stared chef @chefeduardfrauneder ‘s food to be great but it blew our minds, especially the tomato starters.
We had
•Fried Green Tomatoes - fried like schnitzel with Comeback sauce
•Cherry and Sungold Tomatoes - in Espelette Pepper jus with onion relish and a lovage and celery salad
•Heirloom Tomatoes - with tomato seed oil, farmers cheese, croutons, cucumbers, and Thai basil cucumber vinaigrette
•Organic Chicken Weiner Schnitzel - with cucumber salad, potato salad, and Lingonberry
•Viennese Chicken Sandwich - organic chicken schnitzel with house made cucumber salad and pickles, on a brioche bun with fries
•Tuna Schnitzel - with grilled peaches, mango chutney, and capers
•Jimador's Breakfast - cucumber, tequila, black pepper, oleum saccharum, tomolives
•Garden Of Eden - vodka, lemon, elderflower, apple juice, cucumber
•Smoke and Fire - mezcal, pineapple rum, lemon, agave, kummel liquor, habanero
•Pirate Smash - white rum, dark rum, basil, pineapple cordial, cybar
Sugar, how’d you get so fly?
We lifted and shifted these desserts after the amazing dinner we had at @schillingnyc!
@new_york_noms and I spent about 3 hours at Schilling eating all of the deliciousness they put in front of us and this was how we finished the meal! See my previous reel for the amazing tomato appetizers, drinks, and schnitzel dinners we had.
For dessert, we had chocolate molten cake, cheesecake blintze, and traditional Austrian apple strudel. Unsurprisingly, the chocolate cake was my favorite but I have to give credit to the apple strudel too - I don’t love fruit in my dessert but we still devoured this one too!
Thanks again for the amazing hospitality and generous amount of delicious food!
Nothing short of AMAZING! So comfy and cozy! Loved the communal dining atmosphere. Couple that with food that hugs your soul for the perfect dining experience. I would go back any day of the week for any item on the menu. I left speechless, happy with a full belly and a happy soul.
