Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site reviews
14Very interesting visit. Curator's know many interesting stories about the property and the family. Website recommends making a reservation for a tour in advance. I was lucky and was able just show up and join a group that had already reserved, but wouldn't guarantee that would be the case for everyone.
Being a huge fan of the musical Hamilton, this was a “must see” for my family. It was interesting, but a very short stop as there’s not really much to see there. We decided not to take the tour because it cost money and would take a full hour, which seemed unnecessary from what I’d read in other reviews.
As a huge Hamilton fan and visiting Albany, I could not have missed this opportunity. I loved our tour guide and the way she referenced the musical and the little trivia games.so much fun. The seating area on the side of the mansion is beautiful and peaceful to take in the atmosphere of history and the beauty of the grounds.
Well preserved, small sample of how the rich lived in early (1700's) American history.
Interesting tour with lots of time to focus on historical details. There is nice visitor center with videos and photos, good restrooms. You would part of relatively small group.
Soooo cool! Worth the $5 lol. The tour guide Zoe was amazing! I definitely recommend coming here my family & I had a fabulous time!
After seeing the play Hamilton, the girls were very interested in seeing this place. It was closed while we were there and not exactly in the best part of town but it is maintained well
Fantastic spot, the overlook all the way down to the water is worth the trip up, definitely take a walk around the gardens. There's a few blocks with interesting historical information and.if you're lucky. The feral cats that the staff take care of will be in a friendly mood that day!
Either way, the herb garden was a particular highlight for me!
Cool historic place where Alexander Hamilton was he married. Very interesting history of the Schuyler family with side lights on the growth of Albany. They are learning more and more so visit any now and later would be a good idea. There are currently limitations due to covid, masking, timed tickets must be purchased ahead of time. Because of the time limit, this is a half hour to 1 hour tour. The Museum Part of the tour in the 100 year old caretaker's Cottage would have normally taken us an hour and itself. Stay safe.
Call in advance to make a reservation.
The tour guides really make this place come alive. Hamilton fans, like me, will appreciate this experience.
Visited this neat site today. The tour guides were nice and very knowledgeable. Would strongly recommend to call ahead for the tour times.
If you are a fan of “Hamilton”, this is where Alexander Hamilton married and visited with Eliza Schuyler. If you are a fan of early American Revolution history, it’s definitely worth checking out. Well taken care of historic site showing a prominent house and lifestyle of that time period.
Great place for Hamilton fans to visit. Covid restrictions in place which made our visit very comfortable
Wonderful piece of history. Excellent tour of the house with tons of historical context. Highly recommend, especially for Hamilton fans!
