Unprofessional! The managing partner Greg Scotto doesn’t know what he’s doing. (I’m applauded to have the same last name). If you even want mediocre tax service- look else where! He will he will forget to file your taxes and lead you on to paying unnecessary extra fees and might even put your company at risk! I would highly recommend staying away!

Greg Scotto has been doing my taxes for quite a few years now. He is extremely knowledgeable and always available to answer any questions I have. I highly recommend the group.

SMG does all the accounting and bookkeeping for my hospitality group (Everyday Hospitality). It took me about 15 years and ten different accounting firms before finding a firm that was fully proficient in restaurant accounting. They are diligent and constantly showing us ways to save money. I couldn’t picture running our business without their support and constant dedication to making sure we succeed.

What an incredible firm. They have an outstanding team and have always far surpassed my expectations. Owning a restaurant the last thing I want to think about is my accounting. Wess and the team ALWAYS make sure everything is in order and follow up with me to get what they need.

Downgrading to 1 star. I had used Scotto & Melchiorre for a few years for my solo consulting practice and personal taxes. Was very happy, even though they were very expensive (I've paid at least twice what other consultants in my field have paid for their accounting piece) so naturally turned to them when I launched a tech start up. And due to the premium cost I associate with Scotto Melchiorre, I expected the best.

Unfortunately it was a big and pretty disturbing disappointment.
After I signed the engagement letter with Scotto Melchiorre for the start up, and despite expressing to them a sense of urgency and thinking we had what I thought was a solid 3+ year relationship, these guys acted like I didn't exist. The first contact I got from them, almost a month after signing, was an invoice for "services". WHAT services? I'd been waiting to hear from them to help me build the financials in my business plan. THeir excuse was that they did try to reach out, once. Turns out they sent an email to an address I rarely use, have never used with them in more than 3 years of working together, and I didn't even know they had.

Aside from that, would picking up the phone and calling me been such a hardship? Maybe BEFORE they actually sent an invoice demanding I pay them for. NOTHING AT ALL?

When I complained about this they accused me of being unprofessional. Yes I sent an email saying "what the @#$% is this invoice? " Well, I guess clients aren't allowed to get upset no matter what these guys do.

They had an opportunity at that moment to repair the relationship.
Instead they acted like real jerks.

Good luck to anyone who signs on with these guys- it's nice to see an accounting practice grow but their ambitions may have screwed up their priorities. It certainly doesn't seem to be customer service anymore. Or maybe they just take other types of clients more seriously?

In all fairness, here is my review from a few years ago. I wish this had continued: Excellent- extremely responsive, clear, able to adjust to our tax goals vs.forcing us to adjust to theirs. Great communication- explains clearly. Highly recommend! Happy to serve as a reference for anyone who needs it please don't hesitate to contact me.

Wesley & Greg are incredible. Working in the hospitality industry (restaurants specifically) for over 20 years I've seen so many shady accountants and accounting procedures. If you were to write an honest report of why those businesses fail I'm sure that poor accounting practices would rank at the top, whether it's managing cash flow, budgeting or the all important tax issues with paying sales tax on time and properly filing tax returns. You can't just trust that to anyone as people wake up one day owing so much money that the IRS seizes their account and that's the end. As a multiple restaurant owner I have changed accountants 2 times before finding Wesley & Greg. I can say that they have helped us significantly in a few crunch situations over the years that have honestly made all the difference in how our business operates. They're always available and are constantly pushing the bounds of technology to increase access to data and analysis to better serve us. And their team is top notch, with David being my favorite, but everyone in the office is always kind and receptive. When you have financial issues with the bank or a vendor payment that wasn't received and now they won't deliver or an issue with a gas or electric company you can't wait days or play phone tag just to catch up to your accountants. These guys are on it all the way! I can't recommend them more highly.
