Shalimar Restaurant of Clifton Park reviews
18Respectfully, the food wasn't that great. It wasnt bad. It looked like it would be flavorful but it was not. It wasn't authentic Indian food but they are good at reading where they are located. So it makes sense why it wasnt flavorful and reaching its full Indian food potential. The locals like it. However, it isn't savory like Indian food really is. I paid for 2 adults, a buffet and spent 45 dollars in total which included a tip.
Good collection of food at a reasonable price. Had the lunch buffet and enjoyed the time. Staffs were bery friendly and helpful.
We've been there twice recently to celebrate family birthdays. We get great service and fantastic food. Always a great experience!
This is spot on if you are looking for very good Indian cuisine at a very reasonable cost. It is a simple restaurant with an extensive menu. I don't eat here nearly as often as I should. The food has never disappointed. The appetizer sampler is great for 2 to get the flavor of what's to come. The Punjabi lamb korma had just a hint of heat - the right amount to impart flavor. I particularly enjoy the kheer (rice pudding). It is sweet and just perfectly flavored.
I was so excited to eat at Shalimar in the clifton park location with my fiancé. After 2 plates, I noticed a baby roach crawling on the top of my water glass! I was so upset. Of course I saved it and my fiancé showed the men there. They did not want to hear anything except that we leave. Although we didn't pay anything, it was very disappointing! Never again will we be going there.
Had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was so delicious! Definitely will be coming back.
Still the best indian food around. We think this is the best Indian food around. Lunch and dinner buffets are great. Always fresh and delicious with lots of variety. The restaurant is very clean and tables are lovely. We give them 5+ stars.
Shalimar is the best Indian food I have found in the upstate NY area. They have a buffet that has a great selection, and even better tasting food. I have been able to feed my picky daughter food from there consistently, and she loves it every time we go. Their spicy chicken, palak paneer and aloo Gobi are all amazing. If you have not tried it, get their spiced iced tea, as it goes great with the food they offer. Their naan is delicious as well. The staff there are amazing, and they make sure you feel welcome and attended to. Everyone I have seen come in seems to have a personal connection with the staff which makes it feel more like a homestyle restaurant.
I have coworkers who travel from across the country, and I always suggest this place or take them there for a great meal.
The Staff Members are very nice and The Food was delicious. I would definitely go back and I recommend this place to anyone.
Hands down my favorite Indian spot in the area. My only gripe is that I don't find it spicy enough. Even when I ask for lvl 10 spicy. My go-to is chicken/beef vindaloo.
We used to come here often but the quality went down in the lunch buffet, so we started going elsewhere for Indian. On a whim, we decided to do the dinner buffet last night and we're pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was again. Perhaps having more competition in town factored into the improvement. Regardless, the Tikka Masala was back to it's former glory, nice and rich! The Korma and Saag, also yummy. $15 for a dinner buffet, including drinks, is a great deal. I'm not sure if the fella behind the counter is an owner or manager, but he was in a fantastic mood, cheerful. I love seeing people who love their jobs. Good job Shalimar!
Amazing experience. Friendly efficient service, and delicious food. The ambience is delightful, and the value is unbelievable. Five of five. Will be back again and again
Friendly, fast, cheap buffet great for when you just "want Indian food" but can't decide what exactly. Wish there were more options to choose from available, but what options they do have are fantastic!
Superb! Shalimar is a favorite spot for us for true Indian flavor. As usual this little gem had something new to offer with the chili chicken beside its signature main dishes.tandoori.curry beef.lasse etc.
We actually got the last free table last evening with a full house.this just tells how good they are.
Very tasty and had enough to take home. I hear the lunch buffet is very good.
The naans were soft.
The service was attentive even with several other tables of people.
We've eaten here for the last 3 years, and it continues to be our favorite Capital Region Indian restaurant! (we've tried most of them) We typically get the chicken tikka (spicey level 7) and palak paneer, veggie samosas, garlic naan and cheese naan. My parents request a meal (or two) from here every time they visit. The naan is amazing when dining in, but isn't too bad when ordering takeout as well. The creaminess of the chicken tikka and flavor of the palak paneer is what keeps us coming back! The staff have always been friendly but be sure to know what you're ordering before calling or the language barrier can sometimes cause issues.
OMG! The dinner buffet is amazing! So many different choices! So many veggie dishes, it's wonderful. They have goat for those who like that, and chicken Tika masala which I love. Different naan choices, salad too. Can't wait to go back! ️ And their staff is so friendly and helpful.
Read all these great reviews on Google about the buffet and had to try it myself. It was AMAZING! So affordable (lunch buffet: $11.99/person, dinner buffet $14.50/person). Everything tasted so delicious, freshly made and replaced as food was running out. Buffet includes the drink. Service was great! They were very friendly, helpful and on top of everything. We'll definitely be going there again. One of our faves now for sure
