Despite nearly 2 years on the UES, I only discovered Alex’s talents towards the end of my time here. Unfortunate, because Alex gave me the best fade I’ve ever received. I had come to him several times before for beard trims, and he always told me I should give a haircut a try. I’m glad I finally did as I discovered my new personal benchmark for haircuts. Can’t recommend him enough. Do yourself a favor and stop by for your next cut.

I came to Shantl for a cut and they were very communicative and friendly. I have pretty straight Asian hair and they did an amazing job.

I had a pretty bad cut from a different shop in the area and this place fixed me up with a great cut.

I just moved to the UES from Canada and I found this place based on the amount of phenomenal reviews. I have to say, even though I expected them to be good, it still blew me away. Alex was super friendly, and extremely good. I wasn't totally sure what I wanted to do, so I just showed him a picture and said "something like that? " 30 mins later, I had a hair cut BETTER than the picture of the movie star I showed him. HIGHLY recommend this place!

Alex is the best barber in town. He always will have a line of customers as he remember everyone one, their haircut style, and spend time making the haircut perfect.

Decently surprised. Thought I was in for a ride but actually got a pretty decent haircut. My barber didn't give me what I asked for (a light trim) but did give a good haircut despite this fact.

I am so happy that I found Shantl Barbershop. This is a hidden gem in the UES. The Owner, Alex, is the utmost professional, friendly, and really takes his time to give every customer that walks in his shop a quality haircut.

Complimentary wash of the hair with the purchase of a haircut is a nice touch as well.

Alex’s haircuts are extremely affordable too compared to other NYC Barbershops. Only $30. Walk-ins accepted.

I’ve only been seeing Alex for the last few months, however I do wish I found this NYC Secret a bit sooner. Highly Recommend. 5 Stars.

Went here while visiting the MET! Had a great time with the owner Sasha, and the hairdresser's skill is over the top. Definitely would go back if we're back in town again!
