7No lines no waiting. Just something fun and cute for my granddaughter to see.
There are lights _on the horizon
Of the remote cosmos,
& every line
Or shadow of a line -
Turned into a sea horizon,
Or a strip of distant land
One of Albright Knox’s first public art initiatives in the area, Shark Girl’s public debut in Buffalo was around 2014. Created by Casey Riordan and originally showcased along the Ohio River before being acquired by the Albright. The statue is literally a “fish out of water” and represents a desire for normalcy. The little girl in the blue dress is patiently waiting for people to come and take a selfie with her.
Shark Girl was given a bit of a restoration/ glow up during the pandemic. But she is back for photo ops and ready to be the social media star that she is!
Always a fun picture when visiting Canalside! Shark Girl is near the Replica Canals and ice rink. She has even become a Buffalo celebrity herself. Look for her on murals, and even the current Albright Knox Northland exhibit Herve Tullet.
Wanted to check this out but it has been removed. The sign said it was to be returned in 2020.it's still not there!
I have been here with my wife multiple times in winter and summer. It is definitely an area to adventure around. Shark Girl overlooks a canal that features ice skating in winter and paddle boats in summer. Walk past her toward Canalside Buffalo Waterfront for amazing views of the Buffalo River from the boardwalk. We watched a band and enjoyed games there.

This was too cute to pass up. The GPS took us right here. Parking is all around and there was a skating rink here as well.
I mean, it's not a marvel in and of itself. Don't pay for parking just for this. But if you're already wandering in this area, it's cute and worth putting on your route:)
