Shearwater Classic Schooner, New York NY

I booked Wine Tasting Sail tour as a part of my best friend's 50th birthday celebration and it was unforgettable!
First, the crew were AMAZING, all of them! We may not remember all their names, but each one of them was great! Ben and Gabby (sp?) were great hosts and made sure our cups are never empty. A BIG thank you to all of you, you were awesome!
Now I did read a lot of reviews before booking this tour and here's my humble opinion:
If you expect a gourmet tasting with a sommelier on board, don't book this tour. It is all about the experience sailing on an historic, 1929 vessel while sipping wine and taking some great pictures. It is all about the company and good mood that you will bring with you. And for the love of booze leave your toddlers at home or book a (much cheaper) sailing experience that doesn't involve alcohol.

We did the sunset sail and it was a great disappointment, I have to say.

2 hours actually were 1 hour sailing and 45 minutes of waiting in front of the little yacht port.

The tour was super boring and dull. Just to the statue of Liberty and back. No East River. No Brooklyn Bridge. No going up Hudson. Nothing.

Also, the boat is super small. Everything is narrow. Barely places to sit. I had to sit on a box where the store the beer bottles and had constantly to get up.

So, my advice: take Staten Island Ferry. You see exactly the same and it is free.

It was a wonderful NYC experience. The crew was AWESOME! The ride was relaxing! Best experience we’ve done so far!

An absolutely incredible experience! I got very lost trying to find the dock, which is completely my own fault as the directions provided were very clear, but the guys helped me over the phone and got me to where I needed to be and I got there in time! The crew on board were so friendly and it was lovely to talk to lots of different people on board. The boat ride was the perfect way to see New York and seeing the Statue of Liberty quite close was brilliant! The local beer for sale on board was a great extra! This has been the highlight of my NYC trip and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who wants a unique way to see the city!

Such a fun quick ride around the city! You won't be disappointed! I will say the drinks and snacks are minimal on thier bubbles and bites package so don't be hungry!

If you want to get a perfect photograph of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan, with Shearwater you have it for sure! The friendliness of the crew was great and once you are in the sea it is quite an experience.

Great experience on a classic sailboat. Beware that this is Hudson River (West side) out to the Statue of Liberty and never goes to the East side.

Had fun and good pics on the boat! Crew members were super nice and friendly. Highly recommend if you wanna see the view of the ny harbor.

This was great! My wife and I have been living here for quite some time and decided to have a fun brunch date. We signed up for bubbles and brunch and absolutely loved it! The staff is amazing. The sail was great. It was just a fun experience. I am so glad we did it.

Great experience! The crew was amazing- couldn't ask for funnier, friendlier, more amazing crew! Yhe food was great - the cookies amazing and the jazz band added so much class to the whole evening! This experience was the highlight of our entire NYC visit!

It was a nice time. Nice schooner. We felt very relaxing with the crews and will definitely return again soon.

Chose this excursion with my Sightseeing pass, and I'm really glad I did! The crew is really nice and professional. They obviously know how to handle the boat and keep everyone perfectly safe when the wind unexpectedly picks up.

Of course the view is amazing. We sailed past the statue of liberty and since it was cloudy, I managed to take much better pictures than when I was actually on liberty island. And let's not forget the manhattan skyline on the other side. Definitely worth it, and I recommend it to everyone visiting NYC. Wether you're traveling alone like me, or with a partner, friends or family.

THIS SHOULD BE ON YOUR NYC MUST DO LIST! Sailing the Hudson on the historic 1929 Shearwater Schooner is an unforgettable experience. Beautiful skyline views, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are all checked off the list; but what sets it apart is the personable crew. Captain Allen, Madeline, Trevor and Gavi extend BEST IN CLASS genuine hospitality. Cold beverages, wine and beer are available for your enjoyment and are a nice touch to one of the most relaxing, romantic and chillest sails I’ve ever been on.
Excellent for small groups or couples and especially if celebrating a special occasion. I was celebrating my 50th birthday and was recognized with a complimentary round from the crew which I’ll never forget. You can even stand on the bowsprit! The schooner is immaculate, extremely well kept and they share its storied history protecting our waters during WWII.
Be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes early to check in as the sail sets off promptly.
FORGET the other sails and choose the Shearwater for an amazing experience…. You will not be disappointed, guaranteed!

Anlegestelle lag sehr günstig in der Nähe unseres Hotels am WTC. Die Online Buchung ist etwas aufwendiger mit dem Sightseeing Pass, bekommt man aber hin. Der Ablauf war dann aber Problemlos.
Die Tour führt von der North Marina Cove (Shearwater) an Ellis Island vorbei zu Miss Liberty und wieder zurück. Die Segel werden durch einen Motor unterstützt.
Durch das Zusammenspiel von Sonne, Wind und Wellen ist es ein schönes Erlebnis!

Es gibt gekühlte Getränke an Bord. Mit und ohne Alkohol. Die Preise haben es aber sich. Aber 90min kommt man auch mal ohne Booze aus.

Ich hätte die Tour ohne Sightseeing Pass nicht gebucht.

Had such a great time sailing on this schooner. Staff and captain were on point and did an amazing job. I wish I could rent it out for just my wife and I.
