Pizza Restaurant Shelter reviews
17For my birthday, my friends and I decided to go here after Smorgasburg for some drinks. We had a party of 11 people so it was a bit of a stretch but they were SO ACCOMMODATING and even set us up along with windows in their back room so we could have a bit of privacy for the large group. Servers were timely and the drinks were amazing. Even though we were full from Smorgasburg, the menu actually looked so good we ordered food. Honestly 10/10 recommend the truffle mac & cheese and the drink options are top tier. When we got ready to head out, the owner even came over and introduced himself and thanked us for coming. HIGHLY recommend:)
Menu is somewhat light but what they have looks good. The drinks were very good and again, small menu of unique cocktails but what's on it is very flavorful.
Everytime I go to Shelter, it's an amazing experience the empanadas are somethings else, totally recommended the Humita is a must!
Got to witness one if the best djs in Brooklyn #DinoMartinoNYC while having some of the best drinks and tasty food they have to offer!
I thought the food is going to be better but it was so so. The did not taste as cocktail more like juice. Extra tequila shot is 3$
Best empanadas in Brooklyn. The services was great and the vibe was super cozy a real Shelter. I meet the owner and he was an all around great guy.
The Best Gluten-free Pizza I've ever had! Wonderful rustic cabin decor, including an active wood fireplace. I've had a lot of GF pizzas over the years, but they make the hands down best.
Came in with a small group of friends early Saturday evening. Atmosphere was nice and the fireplaces were lovely. The food was tasty too. I’m giving one star because of how an interaction was handled with our server. A friend who can’t drink alcohol asked for a virgin piña colada. When it was brought to the table she wasn’t sure it was actually virgin and had my taste it. I couldn’t tell either. Since it was loud we asked our server when he checked in on the table to confirm with the bartender if it was indeed alcohol free. He said “of course it has alcohol, it’s loaded with it” so clearly there was some things lost in the communication. Having worked in service I totally get feeling checked out while working a Saturday night, but for something like this even a simple “sorry” would go so far. But there was no apologies, and he was pretty snarky about it. When we got the bill we asked if it could be removed, which was a bit of an ordeal but whatever I get that workflows with your manager are different place to place. They ended up removing a slightly cheaper drink instead which was weird but it’s Saturday and getting busy so close enough. I wish they took this a little more seriously or were at least a tiny bit apologetic. It’s just not ok to give someone who can’t have alcohol for whatever reason an alcoholic drink by mistake and then act like they’re the stupid one for ordering it.
The pizza crust was tough to chew. The burger was great. We were introduced the chocolate empanada. The server didn't tell us there's walnut in it which caused our son had allergic reaction. Though it's tasty.
This place is incredible, I highly recommend it. Perfect atmosphere and delicious food options. We enjoyed a chocolate lava cake during a gray rainy day in NY.
Such a cozy place!
We had a charcuterie board to start and then we had the parrillada, both were delicious!
Their bread was very yummy, I assume is same dough they use for the pizzas.
The staff is so great and super friendly!
We came back and we loved it because they are dog friendly restaurant, we had our little doggy with us so it was amazing we could sit inside with her!
Went here after a show, good food and unique decor. They played some great music although it was slightly too loud and the patrons were a bit rowdy
Dinner was good and drinks were great at this unique bar / restaurant. It's 80% bar and 20% restaurant, in my opinion. But their food options are way above average for a bar. We had a pizza, two empanadas, and the day's special Truffle Burger with some of the best fries I've ever had. Oh, and the endive salad, which was light and fresh.
And what made the entire experience consistently enjoyable was our bartender and server, Elisa. She was welcoming, funny, knowledgeable about the menu, and made a delicious Old Fashioned for me and a mocktail for my wife that was wildly unique but perfectly suited for her taste. Thanks for taking such great care of us Elisa!
Cozy spot to watch a game. Fireplace is a nice touch during the colder months. Food isn't anything special, and you can definitely get better cocktails elsewhere, but it is a great ambience to relax in during a weekend.

This brick oven pizza restaurant in Brooklyn warms you up at the moment that you enter in the place with its fireplace. The ambience ressembles to a log rustic cabin and makes you feel like you are on a skii holiday. Even the sepciality is its pizza preprared from the woods of Vermont, you can find empanadas, meat variations and salads also available on vegan and you can change to gluten free options. We tried the Four Cheese and Sopressata Piccante ; The dough of pizza is very thick and fluffy, in a good way. The panqueque dulce de leche, which consists crepes fılled wıth dulce de leche, caramelızed banana and vanılla ıce cream on the side was a good final to finish the night or you can continue tu have a drink in their cosy bar.
What to Try: Sopressata Piccante Pizza 18.00 $
The food was excellent, the place is cool, we had a great experience until we left, we paid in cash to a person who works there and he was the one who brought us the check and received the money including the tip, when leaving the restaurant another waiter came out yelling at us that we had not paid the check, we told him that we paid in cash and he told us that he did not have the record that we had paid the check, we told him that we paid in cash and the waiter, still doubting our word, asked us who we paid to, how he looked and a series of other questions treating us like thieves, we really felt humiliated and he ruined our night.
