7Beautiful gallery of some exquisite pieces. Some seemingly priceless. The shop is very beautiful and a lot of fun to browse. Clearly the sellers are professional and know what they’re doing. I loved my experience there even though I was traveling and unable to buy based on logistics. All around quality. Courteous staff and a lot of fun.
Visited the store to sell my antiques. Showed photos and they told me they were interested. I tried to set up an appointment for them to see the items. After two weeks of contact with them they could not commit to an appointment. This is obviously a business with little or no capital to buy anything! Don't waste your time with these clowns.
I purchased something from ShowplaceNYC and I was showing it to a friend who recentely purchased something simliar with 1stDibs. BUYER BEWARE - They misattribute the history of antiques and now I am stuck with something that was sold as a 120 year old piece which was actually made in the '90s. He was able to return but I'm stuck. It is beautiful but not what I purchsed.
They do a public auction every two weeks on Sundays and they have some booths inside that look like they might be open other days. The place feels a little outdated inside, but they are doing renovations which will be completed in May. It feels a little like a giant fancy garage sale, but they have really good things and they clearly have a good system for running the auctions. They have bidding online ahead of time, phone bidding, but the auctioneer seems to favor the room which has a pretty good energy on auction days.
"SUPER" AUCTION EXPERIENCE! PURCHASED A PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY CRESWICK SILVER WINE COOLERS IN AUGUST 2019. THE AUCTION HOUSE DID AN OUTSTANDING PACK AND SHIP JOB AS THEY ARRIVED SAFE AND SOUND AFTER BEING SHIPPING ACROSS THE US. WILL BUY FROM AGAIN. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Truly impressed with the number of booths, but I went in the middle of the day on a Saturday and half of them were closed! Also, a bit hard to find mid-priced items (look, I only work for government and I don't earn a $100k+ NYC salary!). Definitely worth a second visit!
