Shrine and Parish Church of The Holy Innocents reviews
6 Historic church in the middle of NYC!
note.here you can attend the original Latin mass
Beautiful! Best Church in New York! Especially the true Tridentine Latin Mass of all ages! Laudetur Jesus Christus!
Hands down one of the best parishes in Manhattan. The pastor is fabulous, and every mass, TLM or new order, is reverent. They do many devotions too!
Bad Mass experience.
Not complaining that the mass was so boring, the priest dragged on, repeating himself on God's greatness, Jesus's love, totally losing our concentration, patience for at least 20 minutes. The church was cold, so I put on the hood of my inside sweater hoodie over my head. As I knelt down to receive communion, with my hands out to receive, the other priest walked to me shoving the communion to my mouth. Totally caught by surprised and rudeness. Then as I was praying after communion, he came by patted me and said to remove my hoodie.
Not a good place to recharge. No spirituality gained, just another reminder why people leave the church. And its mostly our encounter with the priests.
Very opportune church on the road, we went to cross ourselves after spending the end of the year in Time Squere.it helped us to meditate for a moment.
Holy Innocents is one of the most important churches I have ever visited. It is where I attended my first High Mass in the Extraordinary Form, along with my dear, late friend Matthew Pecorino. It was on the Assumption, which is my favourite feast (owing to my devotion to Our Lady from growing up in a Marian parish). Matt was a full head shorter than I, and I remember how he tried to hold up his Missal so I could follow along during the chants, but as I had four years' experience of Gregoian chant from high school, I kept staring straight ahead as we went! Additionally, I have dedicated my life to the protection of the unborn — and their mothers — and so the Holy Innocents themselves are also dear to my heart. This parish is very, very special, as well as conveniently located in the heart of Midtown. Even if you are not Catholic, or you are Catholic but prefer to worship in the vernacular (and I typically do), treat yourself to a Traditional Latin Mass here at least once. It's the only church in town where you can do so every day of the week! Holy Innocents, martyrs in deed but not will, ora pro nobis.
