Shu Jiao Fu Zhou reviews
15 We sometimes road trip from Queens to this place just to get their boiled pork dumplings with chives with vinegary soy sauce - it is that good. Their noodles and peanut sauce is quite good as well. Really affordable casual dumpling, soup & noodles place.
They used to be located 1 block away, where it was still an open secret, but since moving to Grand Avenue, get lots of foot traffic and many, many more Caucasian and out of town visitors.
The best in "cheap" eats for this area - as opposed to the newer hipster small eats places that sell overpriced "interpreted" Empanadas and such.
The food here is ok, but in relation to the price it's a bargain. It's hard though to get a seat, it's very popular amongst the younger generation what I could see.
It's worth a try. But have cash with you, no cards are accepted.
Favourite place for dumplings - these are probably the most legit dumplings I’ve tried. Highly recommend pork and cabbage/chives. Prices are really good and service is always very fast. They only take cash so make sure to bring cash with you, but if you happen to forget you can also place a pick-up order on Uber Eats (a bit more fees for that).
First off the food was amazing. I had the wheat noodles with peanut sauce, and the pork & chive dumplings. Both came up relatively quickly, a great selection condiments on the table, very fresh and tasty.however The guy behind the counter didn’t want to give me one of the plastic deli containers for my noodles, just kept shoving this flimsy styrofoam clamshell at me no matter how many times I asked. I needed something that would stay closed in my bag. Better options out there for dumplings in that neighborhood.
Cheap mediocre boiled dumplings. Very little filling and the consistency of it was kind of off. 1st time trying fu zhou fish ball soup, so not sure if these are considered good or not. The broth itself with celery was savory goodness. There are similarly priced dumpling establishments in Chinatown that are significantly better.
Order at the counter and cash only. Seats are available, first come first serve. Prices are tax inclusive. It’s super casual but def authentic, and I can’t think of a better deal anywhere else in Manhattan!
I had heard great things about this place, and was finally able to check it out. I’m so glad I did because the dishes are super cheap and very tasty!
This restaurant only takes cash and they do dine in or take out. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
For $3 the chicken and chive dumplings is such a good deal. It tastes so good. The prices are amazing for the amount they give and it tastes delicious. (Photo shows chicken and chive dumplings and thick rice noodles with peanut butter sauce)
I've been coming to this place for about 4 years now. I keep going back because of how cheap
and delicious everything is. Always go for the ban mian, aka wheat noodles with peanut sauce as well as their dumplings. Any dumpling is great. I also think their soup deals are great, though the ban mian and dumplings are the main attraction for me. 10/10 hole in the wall Chinatown restaurant
I wouldn't say they have the best dumpings or noodles that you should absolutely have to try out, but it's really worth it with how much you're getting. You could order a large dumpling set, a fishball soup, and noodles and still have it all total to around $10. Definitely check it out if you're nearby and looking for cheap but good eats.
This place was high on my list places to eat in Chinatown and the food did not disappoint.
Food: I ordered 10 chicken and chive dumplings for $4.50. The dumplings were so fresh, delicious, and filling and the price was amazing.
Restaurant / Wait Times: The restaurant was pretty packed on a Sunday afternoon so I opted to take my food out. The food was prepared pretty quickly and I was out the door in under 20 minutes from beginning to end (arriving, ordering, getting food).
I'll just come out and say it, this place is a gem! The from the peanut noodles to the tripe soup. The menu is excellent.
However the crown jewel of this establishment is the Pork and Chive dumplings. In my humble opinion the dumplings are the best in Lower Manhattan!
Shu Jiao is the best budget-friendly yet still super tasty dumpling shop in Chinatown! Got the chive and pork and everything about it was great. Dumplings were packed with chive, pork, and full of soup. They don't skimp on the portions given the low price.
Fast and incredibly cheap Chinese restaurant that specializes in Fuzhou fish balls. The peanut noodles are cooked to perfection and goes very well with the savory, slightly tangy peanut sauce. The dumplings are chewy and the filling to skin ratio is on point.
Right when you walk in you can tell this place is authentic. Every time I come here there is a line and it’s pretty obvious why. The food here and cheap and it’s good. Make sure you bring cash though because they don’t accept credit cards. The service here is also nonexistent but that’s usually how these restaurants are since you don’t have to tip. The go to Fuzhouese breakfast is definitely the peanut noodles with a bowl of wontons. Almost everyone you see eating there orders that and it’s just a classic.
