Smith Boys, Conesus NY

Just going to put this out there for a warning for anyone who is considering buying a boat. I highly recommend that you DO NOT purchase from Smith Boys. I purchased a used boat in the spring from Smith Boys and specifically from the Rochester General manager Joe Tallarida. When he sold me the boat, he assured me that he knew the previous owner personally and that the boat was very well maintained and in excellent working order. He insisted that the paper work to purchase be signed before prior to a test run. He also assured me that they went completely through the boat and found absolutely no problems. The boat trailer was "inspected and registered" The motor in the boat blew with less than 10 hours on it after I purchased it, When I had the general manager from a different marine go through it he noted that there was significant issues that they had to have known about when they sold it and nothing was "meticulously" taken care of on the boat. Further, the bearings seized up on the trailer, the tires were weather checked, so bad that there is no way that the trailer would have legally passed NYS inspection and the lug nuts on both wheels were put on backwards. Neither the boat or trailer were salvageable. I called Joe Tallarida and tried to discuss it with him and he literally said " sorry about your luck, I am not doing anything about it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE DO BUSINESS WITH SMITH BOYS MARINE OR JOE TALLARIDA.

Called Monday about a rough running engine. Laura asked me to bring the boat in on Wednesday and picked it up the next day running great. Thank you!

Today I experienced the worst form of salesmanship available. I made a deal with “Dannie” to buy a 17 Indian Motorcycle. He posted it on marketplace. I told him I wanted it, offered to put a deposit on it. My family has bought boats from Smith Bros before. I was told that it would be ready at 830 and no deposit was needed. I took the day off of work, drove 90 minutes to get there at 8: 29am and be told the bike is sold. Absolutely beside myself how business like this can be conducted. Me, my family and anyone that is looking for a boat that talks to me will NEVER go to Smith Bros again. If you want a dealer to not stand up to their word and waste your time, go to Smith Brothers.

I offered to put a deposit and was told it was not needed. I was never told first come first sir! I miss the days when someone’s word was gold.
