This vet hospital is great. Dr. Kaplan performed surgery on my cat which was not an easy decision to make for my family and I, but they took great care of her and I have nothing but good things to say about him and the staff there. I highly recommend this place. They're honest, which I appreciate so much and look for in a vet.

There are no words to describe how how truly amazing both Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Bergendoff are. Previously, we were seeing a great vet but needed a surgeon to person a spay on a large 70-lb dog that her vet couldn't perform, which brought us to Dr. Bergendoff first. I watched her perform a meticuluous and thoughful physical exam on my dog and right there, I knew this would go well. Seven weeks later on the day of the surgery, while on the OR table, it was discovered my pup required a hernia repair and that was completed within the estimate provided to my the doctor. I thought that was VERY classy. My dog is big so she came home with about 20 staples - her wound was COMPLETELY HEALED in FIVE DAYS. I've seen my fair share of sutures from surgeries and this closure was something that human doctors should take a look at - the attention to detail and carefulness was outstanding. Fast forward a month later, my dog ate something in our yard which spewed on a vomitting spell and she ended up throwing up some blood. Despite having a fully booked scheduled (which was clearly observed whenI got to the hospital), Dr. Kaplan saw me within 2 hours of my call and gave my pup an incredibly detailed and thorough exam - just like Dr. Bergendoff (you can see why these two work togther). He was meticuluous in how he approached my dog and how he wanted to take care of her.

I could go on and on with more examples of extraordinary practices at this hospital. The nurses are professional and kind. Strong but always polite. I feel so comfortable here. We had a great vet but now we have two extraordinary vets. Thank you for taking care of my dog, Abigail, like she's you're own.

I am so very disheartened by this review, but it needs to be said. I’m very disappointed by this vet. My dog had surgery with them and needed to have the staples removed. After going to them 4 times for different things, they never took out the staples after I mentioned to the desk they needed to be removed. After milking me for a total of $670, I called them to complain about their neglect with my dog’s staples, and I get insulted. I will no longer be going to this vet and I recommend people be cautious. This is not the same Smithtown Animal Hospital that I knew and loved. This is a new, neglectful hospital.

I live 25 minutes away and will still only use Smithtown Animal Hospital because of the kindness, professionalism and pet care collaboration. Drs Kaplan and Bergendorff have helped my family and our pets through some extraordinary health challenges. I am forever thankful for them and will refer everyone I can to their care

Both Dr Kaplan and Dr Bergendorff are amazing. You can tell they truly care about your pets and never make me feel rushed. I've dealt with previous veterinarians that made me feel like I was wasting their time and they just wanted me and my pet out of their office. Not Smithtown Animal Hospital. When I first relocated to Kings Park I found them and I don't regret it one bit! They are always very nice and let me take all the time with any questions I have so I can fully understand anything I've brought my fur babies in for. And they are so very loving and caring to both my babies. I will forever bring any of my pets here.

Been using this facility for over 4 years with no concerns at all. My 10 YO lab/hound mix receives great care and both Vets are professional and take the time to explain treatment options and various pet Healthcare tips. Staff is friendly and gentle with my Dog.

Love Dr Scott Kaplan, professional, caring and very knowledge. He is truly my dog’s healer.

Dr. Kaplan, Dr. B, along with the entire staff at Smithtown animal hospital go above and beyond for their patients and any animals in need.

The genuine love, concern and care they provide really shows what kind of people they are at their core and I can't say enough good things about the whole team.
