If I could give 0 stars, I would! We arrived in town from Philadelphia for our 12pm reservation and our “short” experience there was unacceptable. I had been in communication with the Manager since Friday to schedule the reservation and it went smoothly and seemed to be a professional establishment. However, upon arrival with a 12pm reservation, we were left waiting outside in the rain for the establishment to open - and this was after 12pm. No one acknowledged nor greeted us to at least let us know that there was a delay. We stood outside and saw multiple workers arriving and going into restaurant but no one acknowledged us. After ringing the doorbell twice, someone did open the door but did so in a manner that was very unwelcoming as if we were disturbing them. It’s very unfortunate because we were really looking forward to dining there. Not sure how the restaurant has received such rave reviews. If you could not accommodate a 12pm reservation then that should have been communicated with us in a timely manner.

The food was ok. I had the lobster, shrimp and grits. The lobster was either over cooked or cooked the previous day and just heated up.

The service is really bad tho. Our waitress didn’t put our appetizers in, messed up my drink order twice and to top it all off when I was leaving I witnessed her pick up a rubber mat in the kitchen so a staff member could sweep under it and then immediately after putting it down she went right back to prepping food without washing her hands. When she came out the kitchen I said to her you should have washed your hands, she replied yeah yeah yeah but still served the the food to the table with her dirty hands. I did however walk over to that table and informed them of what I saw.

Don’t waste your time at this place.

Service is terrible I was told 30 mins wait & it’s been an hour, went back to ask the lady how long is the wait now it’s been so long she told me “she doesn’t know she’s trying” if you really hungry don’t pick this spot they have waiting hours & hours. What make make it worse there’s open table they are not using any of them

I arrived with my plus one at our scheduled time to be welcomed by NO host at their station. We waited 10min and were yet to be welcomed nor assisted. At that time, we asked the bartender if we were to just seat ourselves in which he replied no, and someone would come. After an additional 5min, I call the restaurant phone number (while still at the host station, with no host) and someone answered from inside the kitchen. I explained that I was waiting for 15min to be greeted and seated to no avail. She apologized and said someone would be with me shortly……. 2mins later the same bartender came and sat us……………. The wait time for the food (for many) was VERY long and our menu fave (mac and cheese) was overbaked and hard on the top. The menu prices are way too high, and reputation too good, for service like this.

Just came out of the food spot, if you are black don’t go here. The food was flavorless especially the Mac and cheese and collard greens. The jerk wings was not real jerk and chicken was way to hard not even soft with a nice crunch. The drink tasted like the powder Lipton tea with strawberry syrup. I could of made all this at home WAYY BETTER. Overall will not be back and they charge way too much, you can get way better food at the Korean chicken spots.

Excellent lunch options. One of the most amazing burgers I ever had. Was accompanied by a baked potato that was also delicious.

It was great, I plan to go back in the near future. Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent environment!

Weekend brunch opens at 12pm strictly. When the shades are pulled up the place is open. Nice space. We were seated at a big table since there were 5 of us. The staff were nice and the music was great. The place filled up quickly and got very loud which was fine. Food was pretty good. The mimosa carafe was $48 but tasted pretty good. Portion size was on the smaller side compared to other restaurants. Red velvet pancakes were not bad. The fish and grits were really good. The fried chicken was really good.

The one thing saving this establishment is the host and the wait staff. They were very pleasant and attentive. I ordered the Lobster shrimp and grits. There were only 3 shrimp and the lobster was tasteless and tough. I’ve never eaten tough lobster before. Very disappointing. The grits were okay.

If I could give 0 stars I would waited at least 30 minutes for a burger and salad and the place wasn't even crowded. I mentioned it to my server she smirked so rude. Secondly if you are charging a surcharge for credit card use post it. I saw it when I received my bill now I don't mind paying a surcharge but at least let me know up front. They also have the nerve to charge for cheese on a $19 burger. My salad was supposed to be a Greek salad which lacked the cucumbers and olives. Needless to say I won't be returning.

Awful service, mediocre food and drinks. I really wanted to like this place because it was a recommendation.

The salmon burger was not as I expected. I thought it would have been grilled. The waitress was great. She asked us a couple of times if we needed something else. The restaurant was cosie and comfortable.

Freezing in here! Staff says they have no control of the AM only the owner does. Refused to be moved outside due to it being “closed”. Missing food items, no adjustments to the bill for missing items. Very small 2 oz drink with a $20 price point. Not worth the $$. Won’t ever come back here.

Took my mom here for her 62nd birthday. The food fell off from years ago. My omelette was burned, too much milk in grits, etc. Soul food requires love. The chef no longer has love.

There was one person taking orders and one cook causing a long wait for our orders! Soco needs to hire more help on the weekends!

In my opinion, my eating experience at SoCo left my daughter and I with heart burn that last two days. The mac and cheese was extremely oily; the food was not properly prepared. When this matter was brought to management's attention, they did not take is seriously. They were non-accommodating to us, their customers. The food was overpriced. Please check out other restaurants in Brooklyn that will give you better quality of food and service.
