South Huntington Public Library reviews
17The facility itself is very well maintained and cleaned. Multiple rooms for various activities like computer labs, 3d printing, and quiet rooms. However, the people inside are less to be desired. Loud employees talking way over their library voice conversing about random non-work related topics, patrons who don’t know which rooms to use (there are multiple groups having tutoring lessons everywhere BUT in the designated group tutoring room). All-in-all, if you want to find a quiet place to study for an exam, skip. If you want to loiter and read a magazine and talk about current events like a coffee shop, then this is the place to be.
Always great. Read Archaeology magazines tonight while my wife attended an EBAY sales class.
Very nice library! Beautiful design inside and out, with a lovely kids’ section. Huge selection of kids’ books and plenty of play opportunities. The children’s librarians were all very friendly as well.
You need an ID card to access the computer section. But the Library is in public use for everyone. As long as your a Suffolk County residence.
I’ve been coming here for all of one week but I’ve got nothing but praise for the library and the staff. Pleasant people, consistently quiet, ample space for studying and access to electrical outlets. Plenty of computers as well for those with access. The grounds are stunning and ideal for a quick walk on really nice days.
Try to register for a class. If you forget and don't get there within the time frame you are locked out. And let me tell you I have been trying for two years and have never been able to get into a class. I usually forget the day of, and when I remember I am locked out. I feel that they should put me on a wait list and I should have top priority for when the next time the class is offered. Except it doesn't work that way. This library is useless and the staff is not helpful. Our tax dollars at work.
Library perfect for readers, chairs are comfortable but not good for people who study with their computer since the chair are too low compare to the table. So It's hard to type on the computer.
The experience going to the library was great. The personal helped me a lot in everything I need.thank you!
Loudest library I’ve ever been in. The employees speak to each other like they are at a party and not a library. There are quiet areas behind the the help desk area but are usually occupied depending on when you go. Don’t come here if you want to read!
Their building is beautiful, very clean and they always have a diverse art collections displayed in the lower level.
Their website is well designed, not too hard to navigate if you are average tech savvy. It could be a bit overwhelming to someone older like my mom.
Books are generally in great condition, front desk staff and librarians are so helpful and kind. The book selections are great and they are very quick to get new releases! The programs are great and there is always something for everyone in this community. There are safe spaces for young adults and children, and bathrooms are neat.
In the summer, their gardens are perfect for an outdoor reading time with nature.
One issue I had, which is still unresolved, is that I dropped off a book in the box outside and to this day (6months) it still showing as not returned and I may have to pay for that. I wish they had an automated system like the Queens Libraries in NYC. But that's an easy fix, and instead of dropping them off, you can go up to the desk and request a return receipt as you return the books.
Great space. The adults section is huge with many computers. There are teen and kids sections downstairs along with an auditorium and snack machine. There are also great study rooms open with tables and chairs.
Beautiful library with big open windows in quiet study rooms. Librarians are very helpful with transfer books and media from other libraries or if you have any other needs. There's a printer and a scanner available. I love their weekly/daily activities!
Beautiful library with a large selection of books and other media. Very friendly and helpful staff with great book recommendations! Great variety of programs and activities for all ages!
Great librarians. Clean and quiet environment. I always look forward to study or pass time here.
It's Amazing have everything! And the things that don't have the buy and hand to yo is espectacular and beautiful place for read
Beautiful library. Nice big parking lot. The children’s library is amazing and clean. Their programs are great- baking, yoga, art, Zumba. We love it all.
By far the most beautiful, spacious, clean, and relaxing library I’ve been in my entire life!
