My mom has been here since 2017 roughly. I’ll say this there’s literally only three people in that building that cares about the residents. The supervisor nurse one of the doctors and one other person I won’t name them. But the staff is disgusting god forbid you ask them why hasn't my mom’s hair been brushed and matted this way you hear a huff and a puff! Like are you crazy? !? They don’t do rehab on my mother and they don’t wash her or clean her. I went to visit her and my mother’s ear was filled with so much wax it hadn’t been cleaned in months! I have a theory that they dropped my mother and took her to the hospital and didn’t inform my family and told them she was in the hospital for something else because my mom currently wears a cast for a fracture on her arm. HOW DOES SHE Break HER ARM IF SHES BEEN IN A COMA FOR 7 years? I requested to see paper work from what happened and all my mom’s record but they refused because I wasn’t on her chart meanwhile I put myself on every-time I go and somehow i get removed. I’m not like my other family members I’m going to say something and do something regarding such matters. They never give any straight answers. It’s already upsetting and hurting that my mom has been in this state for years on top of her being somewhere where she’s not being treated properly. My mom had beautiful long curls but my cousins always tells them to cut it all off because THEY NEVER BRUSH IT OR MAINTAIN IT. They leave her in a chair unattended with no side bars (my theory how she fell). Then to also be told she caught an yeast infection in her blood that apparently been going around in this type of homes. I soon sue this agency for negligence. PS my mother had a stroke and a brain aneurysm in 2017 and has been in the same condition ever since. No improvements no nothing. If you have a love one that needs extra special care please don’t bring them here, my mom has been living here by a thread by the three staff that actually go to help people and not for a check. I appreciate these three staff but the rest of the ghetto ratchet staff they have their good luck to you.

This facility let me and my mother down. My mom was transferred here the beginning of August after a bad fall and hospital stay. The goal was to get her stronger with PT and OT so she could return home using her walker as she previously did. While here, my mom developed DVT's in both legs which come from lack of movement in a seated position for an extended period of time. They gave her two cups of coffee with her dinner every single day which contributed to the esophagitis she developed which triggered pneumonia. To top it off she contracted COVID from a staff person. All of these things constantly set her back in her development in PT and OT. When asked for updates it was like pulling teeth to obtain. When PT did remember to call me, I remember once being told, "oh she doesn't want to do it so we just put her in the wheelchair and ambulate her. " This facility has a very nonchalant way of carrying itself and that is laziness. My mom made little to no progress in PT in a 10 week time frame! Not to mention my mom lost a significant amount of weight because the food was horrendous. I had to cook and bring her food to make sure she at least had one good meal a day. I gave the two stars for my moms Patient Care Assistant Natasha and Dr. Aneke. She at least tried to make sure mommy ate the food I bought for her and labeled and stored everything for her. The other star is for her doctor, Dr. Aneke. She communicated well and was extremely compassionate and understanding however, the people in place to carry out the doctors recommendations are lack luster in their efforts so it is a waste. Dr. Aneke is the only part of South Shore I will miss because I hope her new rehab center communicates and explains things the way she did. Thank you Natasha and Dr. Aneke for trying to pick up where everyone else fell off. You are the two I wish could go with mommy to her new home in Oceanside.

My father was at this facility for about 7 weeks for rehabilitation. Initially in a vegetative state with severe brain damage. PT Paul went above and beyond while providing his services. He did not do the bare minimum repetitive workouts, instead he pushed my father's limits with new workouts/ activities which showed results in my father's progress. He was able to motive my father to workout, even during days when my father had less energy/ felt down. My father was able to walk out of the facility with a walker, when initially he came in without being able to breathe/ eat on his own. Today my father is home and continuing to improve, not as fast as he did with PT Paul. PT Paul is what makes this facility a 5-star rehab location, he deserves a raise.

This place is extremely horrible. The worst I’ve encountered in a long time. My uncle is currently there and the evening and overnight staff is atrocious. They are very disrespectful, uncooperative and mean not only to the patients but family members also. They hide when assistance is needed. Or when you request for help they have excuses. I will be making a complaint to the Department of Health because this facility should not be operating under no circumstances.

My husband needed extensive care. Efraim the Director provided transportation for dialysis, a vacuum for his foot, change of bandages and a treatment plan for wellness with his head nurse, Nadia. The staff is friendly and attentive.

Poor care for my patient. My patient constantly complained about a long wait time to get help being toileted, then he had to sit in his urine or feces after he had an accident. Always being told they are "short staffed". Staff also had a very nasty attitude towards visitors who also was requesting assistance in behalf of the patient.

The Night shift staff SUCKS. Meaning Aid and Nurses on the second floor. They're sitting by the Nurse station not paying attention to patients or families requesting assistance, I don't understand how is possible to have an employee sitting at a desk not wearing an ID and if you ask for their name the response you get is WHY?

The staff at night especially is horrible! Not only are they negligent and awful to the patients, but very rude to visiting family members. This place is supposed to help and care for elders and it’s not at all ok how they treat their patients. Neglectful in very way! Letting patients sit in a soiled bed and diaper for hours and hours. I was told I had to make an appointment for my mother in law to have a bath. She hadn’t had a bath in 7 days! You can literally hear patients crying for help at night it’s absolutely horrible! DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! I can only imagine what else happens here.

My mom suffered a bad fall in Haiti last November. I was able to bring her back to the US for surgery. I chose South Shore Rehabilitation Center with confidence knowing that she would receive the care and therapy to get back on her feet. Today January 27th, my mom is discharged from South Shore to travel back to her home in Haiti on January 28th. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart

I was given South Shore as my only option for my father’s rehabilitation due to his respiratory needs, so we didn’t research the facility. I have also never written a bad review in my life but I couldn’t let another day go by without warning you.
My father was discharged from the hospital to rehab because he was initially strong enough for therapy. After the first week we noticed a decline rather than improvement. The staff had NO idea what condition my father was in nor did they care to. I could never find his nurse for an update- but I did once and he clearly had no idea who I was talking about. When we asked a staff member for help because he was in distress from sitting in a wheelchair too long, we were reprimanded because we didn’t greet her properly first, she didn’t help or call anyone to assist. We often found him in situations which were not safe.
My father was ill but he was literally dying from neglect. The day I had enough and arranged his transfer home, the physical therapist called me to tell me he was being stubborn and wouldn’t participate in his therapies. My father passed away 4 days later.

Let me tell you about this place. I call it the house of horrors. My husband was there and, the treatment he received was horrible. The staff could have cared less. I have proof of this. The room was disgusting and,
Waa they did not clean my husband left him in flith. He was hanging off the bed when I got there. I could go and on and on. My advice to whoever goes there beware and, check up on your family member often. I give this place 0 stars.
