Good spot, not much of anything special though NYC sets a high bar in this category.

Nice atmosphere. Food was outstanding, the personnel very attentive and polite.

I can't comment on the food because I didn't eat there but I did stop in for an Old Fashioned (the specialty cocktail on their menu) a few times during my stay at the hotel and it was just.perfect smokey flavor. Maple syrup.so delicious

This was our second visit at SOUTHGATE for brunch and as the first one it was amazing The Manager Julette and Lady D went out of their ways to make us feel comfortable and welcomed and the service of the whole team was astounding. The food was yum-my and I‘m very much looking forward to our next brunch there!

This was surprisingly bad. The food came out on a plate like I was at a Perkins or some similar middle-America chain. I asked for a side of Mayo and was brought a plate of little bottles like I was on an airplane. My $25 martini was sub-par.my fries were sad and wilted.my $35 burger was just average. My waiter came over exactly once to check on me over the course of an hour. Unless you are staying at the hotel and going simply for convenience do not bother. This hotel needs to do much better.

Restaurant and bar inside the marriot house essex hotel in New York City, in front of the central park, good mixology, small menu but with very good dishes, good wines, delicious desserts, fast and efficient service, facilities for the disabled, and to entertain the bar projects sports on its walls, high prices commensurate with its quality.
