Spice (Upper West Side) reviews
9Last time I had lunch here was before covid. I had a pork chop lunch with their signature shrimp fritters. The food was very good although I saw the fritters had more chicken than shrimp. Of course the honey sauce covers uo the tase of the meat. Service was ok but I could have been better. Had to keep flagging the person to come over from ordering to paying for the meal. The place also smelled like a stinky mop. I would suggest eating in their outdoor dining or just order takeout.
They give half the portion of curry that they used to give and it’s not as good as it used to be even just a few months ago. Really disappointing as I used to get this like twice a week.
Lovely and inviting place that drew me and my Thai food loving daughters in! They helped me select a less spicy option while they selected the more potent fare! Loved the "taco" appetizers, especially
Food is on point.and love the atmosphere. Not big and fancy but a nice go to for a bite and drink before your late night plans.
A small Thai place in Upper West Side. Food is flavorful but not overly spicy. The Zucchini Pad Thai was delicious. They carry a decent selection of wines and spirits. Service is attentive and allowed us to take our time with ordering. They have outside seating which was nice on a warm day. There were some seats available for the early dinner time. Overall a good experience.
Disappointing. Chicken Pad Thai had a faint “rotting meat butcher shop/trash smell” flavor, chicken had a faint refrigerator smell flavor. Summer rolls were slightly deflated and the cabbage inside was slightly wilted, the hoisin sauce on the side tasted like the shelf stuff that’s been sitting on the shelf a tad too long. The crab Rangoon didn’t have any cream cheese, if it did I didn’t see it or taste it, it was just like a spongey pulverized krab and sawdust (?) mix with an orange sauce that also tasted weird like it was made with the wrong Mayo brand. Been here before and wasn’t impressed, decided to give it another try but won’t do it again.
Their pad Thai spring rolls are unreal. Love everything I’ve ever gotten here but the spring rolls are a standout given I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere before
The vegetarian red curry and rice look and taste like vintage antiques from 1964, nuked to bring them to life ; the curry has no vegetables except for cheap tofu and bean sprouts; they are serving you leftovers at insane prizes; and they don’t even give you a fortune cookie; the restaurant has a coziness which the servers lack.
