Hole in the wall chinese place with a lot of hype but unfortunately does not live up to it. Food is pretty good but no better than any other decent place. Beef pancakes were the highlight, would recommend.

On a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon in NYC's Lower East Side, I traded the comfort of tortillas for something equally soul-warming. Menudo was the dream; Spicy Village's Omasa Hui Mei became the reality.

Don't let the name mislead you—the heat is more of a slow burn than a fire alarm. These hand-pulled noodles? A love letter to culinary craftsmanship. The tripe sings an offal truth that'll make any meat lover grin.

Not a tripe fan? They've got oxtail. Plant-based? There's room for you too at this gastronomic roundtable.

In a city that never stops, Spicy Village offers a pause—a bowl of comfort to break the chill. A different home, perhaps, but home nonetheless.

Small shop for Chinese food that was highly recommended on social. We came around 6: 30 p.m. On a Friday and a line was just starting to form. I tried the spicy beef brisket huimei and steamed dumplings. The noodles were amazing and the fresh, but the beef was a little too fatty for my taste. I’d come back to try different dishes! Reminder: Cash only.

Can you please put multiple jars of chili oil on the table- especially when you are asking customers to share. Thank you.

At first glance, the facade is a bit scary. Street restaurant atmosphere. But delicious cuisine, homemade noodles, an explosion of spices and flavors. Not the common Asian restaurant. To do

Chinese are not welcome here. When I saw that I was Chinese, I put away my smiling face and treated them differently. I felt that I should not come here to eat. I had a really bad dinner. Never again, the Vietnamese restaurant next door is a much better option.

It was recommended by friends and from online, or else it would not be possible to find this place. Food here were so good! Wanted to try them all eventually. With some of the high end restaurants, this is really the place to have soul food.

No frills, hole in the wall, sweet but sassy aunties, and the best beef pancake in NYC.

Bring cash!

Go-to order:

Beef Brisket Hand Pulled Noodles
Beef Pancake x2 (one to dine-in, one to go)

I change it up sometimes and get the Spicy Oxtail Noodles or Fish Ball Soup which are also SUBLIME.

Thank you, Spicy Village, for making my day many a time.

It’s okay food - has become rather expensive for what it is. Beware the noodles which seem to be $4-5 for a tiny portion & the $9 broccoli. The big plate chicken is more bones than meat & feels smaller than in the past. It’s still fine if you’re jonesing for spicy Chinese but…. Meh

This spot is a gem. Had to wait a bit since it was very busy. Small space inside but line is moving quickly.
Be careful if you cannot handle spicy food since many of the dishes have chilli oil. You can ask to adjust the heat.
Really liked the beef brisket with noodles. Meat was tender and good for those who cannot eat spicy.

Wear black so you don’t look like a fool when you walk out covered in splatter from slurping up some of the best brothy noodles in town.

I LOVE the textures of the noodles. They taste so fresh. Also love that they're not as greasy as some other northern Chinese establishments (e.g. Xi'an Famous Foods). The menu has been the same for 10 years at least and so has the consistent quality. I adore this store and its lady owner and will come back for as long as I'm in NYC.

We ordered the beef pancake and the spicy big tray. I really liked the pancake and the big tray is good too but I just wish there was more noodles.
