INCREDIBLE.

Indoors is very warm and cozy. Outdoors is like a backyard family reunion.

Comfort food. Everything we had was fantastic.

Note: they serve beer and wine, no liquor.

For 2 we had: grilled artichoke hearts, wine braised octopus, butchers steak, NY strip steak, and long beans. Both steaks medium rare. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly, but the #1 must order is the Butcher’s steak.

Great place, really nice atmosphere and back garden. Ordered steak, was delicious. Salad on the side was nice. Will come back.

Got the halloumi salad and butchers steak.both were delicious and the steak was likely one of the best i’ve ever had.perfect portions and seasoning.highly recommend.

I think I just picked up an amazing steak habit. Been to all the competitive spots in Wb and let me tell ya, don’t be fooled, There’s good food on Metro. Also Phillip, the bartender is a stud. Go. Get the steak, and stay for the wine.

Went for lunch. Had a great time just watching the chefs cook the food, enjoying the atmosphere, and enjoying my beer. Once i received my food i made sure to enjoy every mouthful. The NY skirt steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare and the fennel was very tasty.

Our server Madison was patient and that was phenomenal. We bonded as customers and was treated with the best of care. The steak, lamb and salmon was delicious. Try the avocado and orange salad. DELICIOUS! The octopus appetizers was great too. Thanks Madison!

Was able to snag a last minute reservation for dinner last night. We ordered the butcher steak, avocado salad, and mashed potatoes.

The butcher steak was excellent. We ordered it medium and even though it came more medium rare, it was perfect - very nicely charred and super tender and well seasoned. I'd come back just for this. Mashed potatoes were also really good. I wouldn't order the avocado salad again; it felt a bit lacking for the price - there was less than half an avocado and half of an orange included. Even though it was fairly tasty I don't think I could justify buying it again.

Overall great experience from food to service to ambience.

Don’t get
- lamb shoulder blade chop: mostly fat and the pieces that were not fat were really chewy and overly salted
- octopus: overly sour and salty

Recommend
- butcher steak
- spinach gratin
- panfried mashed potatoes
- rum sticky toffee cake
- pot de creme

I went here with a group and was excited for this dinner! Every dish we had was good! I was afraid I won't get full but when we had the Mears, especially the Tomahawk, everyone in the table were quiet! We enjoyed every bite! As with the tomahawk, we tried to get as much meat as possible because it was that good! I'd go back here again!

Start off by saying this is an underrated steak spot.
I’ve been to many such as Peter Luger, Del Friscos, Morton’s, Sparks, Ruth Chris, Delmonico, Empire and DeStephanos. A few other but more I plan on visiting. By far this is the best steak!
Del Friscos has the best service and the sticky bread is wild good!
Overall I give it to St Anselm. That Tomahawk is killer so is the hanger.

We came here as a recommendation for a friend and it did not disappoint. The steak was delicious and the price was for what you get is really great. We also got the chicken and it was perfectly cooked. The chefs here really know what they are doing and if want to have really good steak and chicken without the frills or a steakhouse I highly recommended coming here. Perfect for a date night or girls/boys night.

After reading so many positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try with a group of friends. We never imagined how atrocious the service was at the restaurant. After waiting more than 1 hour for our table, the server made us wait another hour for the slightly above mediocre hangar steaks and sides. They chose to serve another customer who was seated 30 minutes after before our table. Not only did the server not apologize, he managed to ignored us for the most of the dinner. Awful service aside, the hangar steak and the pork chop were unspectacular and definitely not worth the ~3 hour wait. Take your business elsewhere, there are better steakhouses and people elsewhere.

So the only reservation available online was on the back patio @5: 15. We booked it but when we got to the restaurant there were 2 open seats at the bar. We asked to sit in these seats. She curtly replied “we like to keep reservations for what peoplr book but ok sit at the bar. ” We walk toward the back of the restaurant where we see 5 open seats at a bar level seating. She sharply says “no but there, there” pointing to 2 open seats at the first counter. I was a little confused as this was the first (and only) time I had visited this spot. After she saw my face she continued “that is the chef’s counter. Sit there” pointing to two seats.

Listen I didn’t know what the chefs counter was and communication could have been more kindly delivered. Also I shared in the Resy notes I said we were celebrating my husbands graduation.

So we sat at the two open seats at the bar. Lovely bartender. However my husband wanted a steak well done with no pink. When the steak arrived it was medium—parts medium rare. He doesn’t like to complain so he ate it. I also ordered spinach augratin that never arrived bc it wasn’t put on the ticket….

It also looked like social hour for the staff. Instead of the manager making rounds to say hello and ask how we were doing it everyone was congregating at the bar giggling and barely checking in with staff— EXCEPT for our lovely bartender.

Anyway we didn’t complain. We both just agreed with so many choices of where to eat in the city we would not be back again.

I wasn’t going to leave a review and let it be.
However, as we were leaving my husband noticed that the hostess stared me down and was giving me a disgusted look.

Food was absolutely amazing. We had the Ny strip and it was fenomenal, also a coffee dessert with ice cream was amazing. I’m not giving this place 5 stars just because of the service, our first server left in the middle of service, we didn’t know who our next server was, 2 line cooks ended up taking care of us (we sat at the chef’s counter) shout out to Matt and Martina! If you care more about food than service, definitely check out this place.

There is no better place to go. I enjoy the memory of the people I meet there. Each person who works there is there to make your experience one that makes you want to return and sample the menu you couldn’t.

The pic is of grilled fiddleheads. If you are there in the spring, try them.

There is no better place in all of New York to enjoy a steak. Lugers can’t even approach the attention to service and excellence in what you will eat.

Please go and enjoy a great meal and experience.

We ordered the burrata, pan fried mash potatoes and hanger steak. All the dishes were delicious and well balanced, the stakeout was the ganger steak with pan fried mash potatoes. I love the crispy outside and the soft and fluffy potatoes in the inside. Perfect way to add texture and a genius dish.

It's my once a week steak must! I don't know when I would crave it so I don't make reservations I just roll up and see if there is a seat by the bar available, if I have to wait, I just grab a glass of wine at their next door bar. Everything I had their is exceptional, but my to go menu is, Butchers steak, octopus, Long beans, spinach gratin, mashed potatoes. I always pair it with some amazing wine they have. I love sitting by the bar where the line cooks work, it's magic.
