Waiting area is filthy. Toilet clogged, vending machines empty. Patient brought in by ambulance (when asked to go to auburn but was told due to condition they recommend upstate). Then tell patient (a diabetic) do not eat or drink, while still waiting in waiting room currently at 8 hours later and counting.

They have always instantly dropped everything to take care of my medical stuff from age 9 til now I’m 21 they have never ignored my wishes. I prefer this hospital better than any other. They always make sure they’re clean with new open equipment and always clean the room good. I just really love this place I love the doctors and nurses.

The worst hospital I have ever been to. Needs are not met. Charge nurse was lazy and ignored questions. Hallways were full of things that should be elsewhere (safety). Took4 RN’s to figure out how to hook up a PCA pump. Water or ice…over an hour. Pain meds after surgery…epidural failed. Awful, just awful. As an RN I was dumbfounded

My sister has been waiting over 9 hours to be seen but an upper class couple had a doctor that personally came out to talk to them. They were here for not even 2 hours and we're brought back. This was after the couple unplugged the TV and told everyone to go to another room if they wanted to watch someone. He even told the doctor who thought it was hilarious. As the couple was leaving the waiting room they reminded a young girl that she would be in for a long night. The girl was also here before them. I understand that hospitals are busy but taking that couple over everyone else is beyond messed up. Thanks for the reminder that unless you have money and friends in high places, no one wants to give you care.

Let's hear it for Patient Accounts. I received a bill 22 months AFTER date of service. I called Oncology and was told it may be covered by 'the study' (clinical trial). There apparently was no followup on your end. I called Pt Accts twice and left voicemail. It's been a month - no response other than receiving another bill threatening to send me to collections. Apparently, it's an acceptable billing practice to bill a patient 22 months late and yet same patient can't take 22 months to pay the bill. I paid what I could every month because I have other medical expenses. Regardless, I was STILL sent to a collection agency by the University. So much for compassion for your oncology patients. It's all about money.

Sub par safety protocols result in negative outcomes for patients. Upstate engages in negligent and dangerous activity. As a trained biomedical engineer, I feel they show the worst of this industry

Terrible staff all around, barely know anything about how to treat a human, forcibly gave me anesthesia that i didnt consent to, and physically touched me while stating i’m uncomfortable.

If you have a desire to meet an early death, by all means go here. If Upstate Univ. Hospital is your only option you are better off staying home. They deliberately bought the cheapest /counterfeit PPE to give to doctors and nurses while spending MILLIONS on a failed merger with Crouse Hospital. From 2020 to 2023 they were more concerned with acquiring more money and power. Why does Mantosh Dewan still have his job. The HHS inspector General and OSHA needs to investigate this place.

Well ER is good but the rehabilitation unit sucks they forget to feed their patients don’t check on them and take forever to give medicine highly recommended for the ER but for rehab never bring your parents/grandparents here ever.

I was 6 months pregnant went to the er I passed out and throwing up and they did no testing nothing but discharged me and at 2 am I passed out from pain and peeing blood went to st. Joe's and found out I was in kidney failure upstate almost killed me and my unborn daughter they are lucky I don't sue them thank you st. Joe for saving us

We went to the ER and sat unhelped for 3 hours. Failed to get the vein when drawing blood. Misplaced the blood and then told us the wrong information and asked to to stay longer after the 6 hour mark. They fight you on the idea of leaving once you do what they want bc they want to profit not only in random tests but their pay to park business

Refuse to answer my phone calls, will not give me my records, saying I was never patient (20 yrs) I have long medical history 2 mild stokes.

Awful, awful, awful. Awful isn’t even the word for this place and they know it too. The most unprofessional EVER. They are not compassionate at all. They do not care. They will let your family member die. Not very clean either. My family member who had cancer but had a great chance at living became even sicker when he was admitted into this hospital because he had gotten covid from the hospital and then a bacterial infection from the hospital! Bacterial infection because they are not clean and professional. He was neglected here and even developed bed sores and would lay in his own vomit for hours. He became so much sicker here and depressed that he decided he just wanted to pass and they’re letting him because they know they messed up. On top of it all he’s only allowed to say good bye to 8 people and that was pushing it for them. And they only let two people in the room at a time to say good bye.

They are always quick to help and the staff has always been great. Any time there is trauma or life threatening issues, I will always go here

Great experience the nurses admissions everybody was very nice the only problem is parking it's too crowded and too expensive.

They are wonderful doctors and nurses in the pediatric er and they do everything they can to get you taken care of you and out of the er as fast as they can in times when the cold and flu seasona are upon us.

Don’t work for their IT department, they fired me after a month of not working fast enough with a disability.

Some of the people are nice, my mom has been here for 25 hours and still waiting for results! Like I understand that they are short staffed but geez!
