Surrogate's Court New York County reviews
7The clerks in room 302 of the NYC surrogate court, is professional, friendly and helpful each time I visited. They were very knowledgeable and informative in helping me with all the necessary forms to file the Estate paperwork as well as answering any questions I had. I didn't need a lawyer to file any Estate forms. The process was simple. All the Staff in the building are friendly. If only the DMV could learn from them what good customer service looks like!
All these high reviews are from tourists admiring the architecture. Here is a review of the business. I really want to do Went to visit to ask a question about probate. Overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge and the inability of workers to clearly articulate the process. I would get better info If I asked someone on the subway. 2023 and the court systems is archaic, paper laden, manned by incompetent driveless drones who have no clue about this system. Workers are 9-5 paper pushing Fike clerks working in a dark cesspool court house. Why hasn’t $$$$$$ been invested to digitalize the court system? Because this antiquated system makes money and it’s keeps people employed This place need a complete technology overhaul. Get rid of the paper process, then replace the drones with people who can think. If you need info, go online
Unfortunately, we were unable to see the lobby…security doesn’t allow entry unless you’re on “official visit”! Tourists not allowed to view!
This building was the first expression of the "City Beautiful" movement. This courthouse only deals with Wills & Trusts of VERY rich & important people. During the week you can go inside and look.
The Surrogate's Court in New York City is a beautiful building, built in the Beaux-Arts style by architect John Rochester Thomas. The purpose of the Surrogate's Court is to handle all probate and estate proceedings for New York State. The building opened in 1907 and can be found opposite City Hall Park on the corner of Chambers Street and Centre Street.
Dedicated staff the goal posts move depending on which clerk you’re speaking to so it’s better to have your ducks in a row before going in there with that being said they are dedicated
