I used Sweeney's to open my pool this year. They sent Bruce and Edwin for the job, who were skilled and professional. They did a GREAT job setting me up for the season. I'm all thumbs when it comes to the pool equipment - they were nice enough to let me take a video of them instructing me how to position all the various valves for different scenarios (i.e. Hot tub draining, waterfall control, jets, etc.) Thanks Guys!

My in ground pool needed the liner replaced. I contacted Sweeney's and met with Ken the owner. His knowledge and expertise led me to feel confident to hire Sweeney's. The selection liners are high quality. Once I made my choice of liner, Ken ordered it promptly and it was ready for installation just over a week. The office staff is attentive and friendly from the start of the project to completion. The technicians were prompt arriving within the time frame given by the office staff. Their craftsmanship was flawless as well as professional. The technicians left the pool area spotless. I am extremely pleased with the new liner. The pool looks like new. The professional service, value and workmanship of Sweeney's is top notch.

The technician, Edwin, was very polite and knowledgeable. He took the time to answer any questions that I had and addressed my concerns. Highly recommended.

Sweeney’s entire team is incredible. From A-Z, they were with us the whole way. From the initial design process, the permits, excavating, all the way to the installation of the lights and phone system- they were there to answer every single question we had and made sure everything was handled and done correctly and perfectly. We hit a few bumps in the road that were completely beyond their control (our town is extremely backed up with permits & our land was previously back filled by the builder which we were unaware of) and they made sure we found the best solutions for these issues and that our dream backyard plans would be not be hindered. The owner Kenny made sure we fully understood everything throughout the process and has truly done an incredible job at delegating the work needed to his incredibly hard working staff. Every single person we spoke to was extremely nice but we worked directly with Brian, Marion, Gabe Alex and Kenny himself. It is always a good feeling when the owner of a company is involved in the customer relations to make sure everything is perfect. He made a really cool suggestion to add a system that pairs with cellphones without being pushy at all and now we can control everything in the pool with the touch of a button. I would 100% use them again to build our pool if I could go back and will 100% be using them for all pool related service for the rest of our time in NY. I will update this review with a photo as soon as the brick work is complete. Thanks again Sweeney’s!

I had a great experience with this Sweeney's. They were extremely attentive, arriving on-time and efficiently getting the job done. They also showed understanding and compassion towards my situation, which made it easier for me to trust them. I would highly recommend this pool company to anyone who needs help with their pool design, install, or maintenance. They are reliable and their customer service is outstanding.

Wow- can’t even say they are incompetent- that would intimate they messed up. They just don’t care to show up or answer their phones

Do not use them. They don’t do what they have listed on their website for pool openings. Literally removed cover rolled it into a ball. Dropped some shock in the pool. But the filter pump together left us with the DH and left.

I'm a new homeowner that had no idea where the previous owner put any of their stuff, but Eddie and his associate (wish I got his name!) were both amazing. They helped us understand our system and find where everything was. The company that did the winterization did a poor job, but so happy I worked with such a wonderful duo at Sweeney's. I didn't feel rushed even though I asked a lot of questions. Absolutely wonderful to work with them and will be using them going forward!

I had an appointment 2 weeks ago to fix a leak in my skimmer on a Wednesday with Michael and he never showed up or called. I called the office the following day to ask them what happened and they told me that he never notified them that he didn't come and that it's because he probably got busy. They said he will try to make it out to me today and that if he can't because of the passing showers that he will call me to let me know (never came or called). It's Friday now and I call the office for them to tell me that he will try to make it out if not he will come Monday because he's busy Saturday.
THE BEST PART - he doesn't show up on friday and then finally comes Monday after I call the office several times. I tell him I need to fix the leak on the skimmer. He ends up looking into the hose and soaking himself twice when taking it apart (could have easily pointed the hose away from himself.). He puts the hose back on exactly how it was assembled before. He's ready to leave at this point and I'm like "what about the skimmer? ". He looks at it for a few minutes and tells me the gasket seems to be pinched and he starts to explain to me how I should take it apart and fix it myself. I ask him to do it since he's already here and I'm not pool expert. He replied "naa I can't do it right now I got 4 other houses to go to". Writes me a 163$ invoice and leaves.

UPDATE: I got an angry call a few hours ago from one of the ladies that work there. She was screaming at me and insisting I take down the review or they will take legal action against me. Now it makes sense why they don't have too many people going against them online. If I can honestly take back my 1 star and give them 0 stars after that rude and disrespectful phone call I would. Hope this helps anyone considering using them to get their pool serviced. Good luck

The 5 stars are for Anthony. He came to clean our pool and was extremely helpful. As a first time pool owner he was very patient and helpful with explaining how to function the pool filter and equipment. He was honest and willing to help show us the ropes. Definitely recommend asking for Anthony!

They have no clue of what they are doing. They ruined my pool when they closed it. Put in all of the wrong chemicals. Ended up needing a new liner and filter when opened it after the winter. Very nasty service. I recommend you have your Grandma winterize your pool rather than use Sweeney. Worst service ever!

Waited all day Saturday for pool service received no call no show had to cancelled plans for Sunday this place has been opening and closing my pool for 2years and when I set up an appointment for weekly service they pull a no show both on Tuesday and Saturday after waiting around for them I give up I guess me buying a 5500.00 heater means nothing they got me for the big ticket item so screw me on the 100.00 weekly cleaning which seems weird because that is guaranteed money.
Complete disappointment
No one answers the calls or texts
Steer clear not reliable!

For a new pool cover this place was great. However for pool opening services I found this company to be highly unprofessional. For $280 they came and removed my cover and installed my plumbing wrong, then left an invoice in my mailbox and left staring thr power was off. If they had called or knocked on the door that could have been easily rectified as the power for the pool is accessible through the garage. It took more then 24 hrs for me to realize the plumbing was wrong so when I called to have them return they said it would be an extra $150 service fee, because it was more than 24 hrs after the original appointment. I'm not asking for free work but they could at least fix their own mistake.

Update: they ended up waiving the service fee to fix the issue, the plumber was a pleasure to work with. Still was charged additional $150 for opening and cleaning filter which was required when the pool was run without DE being put in the filter, which is supposed to be part of the chemicals put in when they remove cover and start up filter.

I’ve been using Sweeney’s pool service for the last two years I am very happy with their professional service and attention to my needs. Anthony in the pool service representative who service the pool did a great job opening the pool and power backing. I would recommend them to anybody that has a pool

We replaced our pool liner two years ago in April and I found the service to be good. Until I attempted to use them again this summer and realized the only reason the service was good the first time was because it was April and they weren’t busy. I need to replace the motor and the filter… The owner said someone would come over and look at everything and tell me what I need but instead they just showed up on the day with the equipment, put the equipment in not checking to see what my outlet was able to handle and put in the wrong equipment. When the guy left he said I’m sorry I don’t know when we’ll be back. I decided instead of waiting for the new equipment I would hire a electrician to up the amps and that would be quicker so that’s what I did. Contacted the owner several times waiting for somebody to come over and show me how to use the equipment and to do the pool opening and that has yet to happen. When I do get a response The owner says I’ll call you later or text you later and that doesn’t happen. Then I sent another text and when he responds he tells me I am emotional because my husband passed away. Are you kidding me? How unprofessional! Started getting statements immediately. Job still isn’t finished as I write this and haven’t heard back from Ken.

I would have to say they are not great with providing a time frame for service, and, understandable for the beginning of the pool year. That being said, dealing with Evelyn and Madison on the phone was a pleasure and when the tech, Nick, showed up, pure professionalism. Nick fixed the problem and my filter system works better now then it did on the day it was installed. Would highly recommend Sweeney's.
