Sweet Basil Cafe reviews
18Grabbed takeout while passing by on a road trip.absolutely incredible. We “oo’d and ahh’d” our entire way through it. Beautiful flavors. (Steak Rice Bowl and Chef’s Yellow Pork Curry) First time in all too long we felt dining out worth every penny- and more! Can’t wait to come back.
I ordered the soondubu for lunch today and was blown away by how good it was. Multiple coworkers said it looked and smelled delicious and I recommended it to them all. I can't wait to go back and try something else!
Update: Recently tried Sweet Basil again. As before, called in my order but this time they were available. Service was good, pho was delicious. Rating updated to reflect.
Ate there once. Food was good! Order took a while but that’s expected with a two-person staff at dinner time, so no foul there.
However, I’ve tried calling in a lunch order for the past three days and they don’t seem to be in the business of picking up their phone. First time, I ordered in person and didn’t know you couldn’t order by phone. I’ve called at lunch hours Thursday and Friday this week, when their website says they are open, between 12 and 1300 hours. Tried calling again today (Saturday). At 1130 and several times after. These are the hours on their site, copied and pasted: Saturday 11: 30 am — 9: 30 pm
Would love to try and eat there again, but I’m not going to spend half an hour of my lunch break going there in person and waiting around. Seems odd for a takeout place to refuse telephone orders.
This is the best South Eastern Asian restaurant in the area by far! Everything on the menu is amazing, and the specials are phenomenal! Clarissa and her husband are the best, they make you feel like you were a guest in their own house. You can taste the love in their cooking.
Absolutely awful service, waited 15 minutes to be greeted at table 30 min to get water. 1.5 to get food one of 2 tables. But the food was fantastic. First person to get food was done with the meal before the last person got their dinner. No soap in the bathroom to bring in the nice welcoming experience! I’d recommend take out!
The best little spot in Victor. Thai and other SEA specialties made with a home cooked feel. If they have Thai iced tea available, GET IT.
I have been here twice and both times it was fantastic. Everything is very fresh and the server/owner is such a sweet girl. First time trying Pho was here and it’s delicious!
Great service and delicious food. The cucumber salad and soondubu were delicious. Will definitely be coming back.
WOW. A great gem in the village of Victor. Flavor Flavor and Flavor. Dishes are very fresh and made to order. Simple soups (actually tasty treats) to full course cuisine. The atmosphere is simple and quiet, you can whisper a conversation to your table mate. Price is very fair and meals are filling. Make sure to try the tea of the day. Did I mention Flavorful, Fresh, and Filling. We will return with friends.
Really enjoyed this menu. Beef pho was right on (tiny pieces of tripe really added to this broth), and the spring rolls and edamame were right as they should be!
They do a complimentary tea that make in house—it’s a honeysuckle and black tea blend and it’s really fantastic!
There’s nothing on the menu that isn’t an incredible, complete experience. There’s only one chef, and he clearly pours his entire soul into his craft, so the food will take a little longer to prepare but it’s always worth it. We don’t really mind waiting, as the homemade tea blends are always a delight and the staff is very accommodating and friendly.
My household generally orders two dishes: one to eat there, and one to heat up for lunch the next day. The food is a mixture of Southeast Asian dishes, generally traditional with a culinary twist that elevates the flavors to the next level. Going to Sweet Basil is an event for us, and we have never been disappointed with anything on the menu.
Delicious, authentic and the best Food. Service is great, we enjoy several dishes and we are glad they open in this are that was missing worldly restaurants. We recommend it 100 percent, support Local!
Food was amazing very rare for me to leave a review, the seafood pancakes and beef pho were very flavorful.
Food was good, they brought it out quickly, and the server was super nice! They were able to make our food GF as well with no issues.
Excellent food. Woman running the place was amazing how she basically handled everything by herself except cooking. Probably would be good if another person could help her on busy weekends. Ambience is a little dull. Outside of building is amazing. Inside needs a little spiffing up. Go for the food!
The food is so tasty, and created with intention. The environment is inspiring. And the family is friendly! I’m coming back
Sometimes you find a gem of a place that feeds you soul as well as your tummy.
We found Sweet Basil on our way back from an art show and were delighted with the explosion of flavors in everything we ordered and doubly delighted to be taken care of with a warm smile, welcoming demeanor and informative suggestions.
The portions are generous; the ingredients, fresh; the tastes, familiar, yet surprising; and the price very reasonable for the quality of food provided.
If you want to treat yourself and your guests, you should have Sweet Basil on your priority list.
AAAAMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGG. Highly recommended. The food was superb… homemade and fresh. The owner was super nice. Service was friendly and fast. Just go. You’ll be glad you did.
