Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant, New Hartford NY

This is one of two Indian restaurants in Utica area. They offered buffet before the covid pandemic but not now. Taj Mahal is a Halal restaurant and offers wide selection of Indian dishes. Their mixed grilled, tandoori chicken and beef curry dishes are good. Their meat samosa is good too. They prepared their food really quick and always fresh and hot. Prices are fair.

Our favorite restaurant in Oneida County. Even through COVID, we go out of our way to buy for pickup and it's always amazingly flavored and seasoned. Highly recommend!

Varied menu with beautifully prepared, fresh ingredients. Great choices for vegetarians. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Food arrives quickly when you order off the menu. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.

Always great food. Parking in the front on the side of the road or plenty of parking in the back.

Never returning.

Called for a pick up. As soon as the phone was answered "Taj Mahal, " the employee asked, "You want Chicken Tikka Masala? " In fact, the order did include Chicken Tikka so, as odd as the question was, the answer was yes. The employee asked an additional three times if we would like Tikka. "No, just one. "

Finished the phone order.

When picking up, there were two orders of Tikka billed. The employee argued two were ordered. They were not, we replied The employee begrudgingly deducted the second order from the bill. We left with two orders.

Upon tasting it, the Tikka had an incredibly distasteful, very strong burned flavor. Everyone who tried it reported the same. The supposition is they prepped a large pot of Tikka and the bottom burned. This caused the burned flavor to transfer throughout the entire pot.

Either throw out the burned and remake, or take Tikka off the menu for the night. Their deception is far more unpalatable than the rancid Tikka.

You lost a good customer.

One of the best restaurants and buffet in all out of New Hartford and Utica NY combined. I highly recommend going to the buffet every single food is infused with flavors. I wish the buffet was open right about now it's closed due to Covid 19 but you can order from the restaurant. It's a shame I would have loved to take my entire family again and with my friends. The food gets and easy 10/10 and their signature drink mango lassi is AMAZING.

I recently went to the Taj Mahal with my girlfriend. The food was good and customer service seemed decent as well.when I received the bill I noticed that the price of the bill did not match up to what was advertised on the menu. Regardless, I remained silent and even gave them a 10 dollar tip because I figured there business was just suffering. However, a few days later I was overcharged again for an additional 10 dollars with no explanation. This is highly unprofessional and should not have happened. I feel that this kind of business has no place within our community and lacks business ethics. I would not recommend eating there and if you do, pay in cash. This is not an honest establishment.

I’m really disappointed and sad to have to write this review. My mom and I used to love going here and even ordering out, but the last two times that I’ve gotten food, I have found black hairs in it. I ordered today, hoping that last time was just an accident, but once again I found black hairs in my food. Definitely not going here anymore after this, sadly.

This place is so awesome place and great people to served. The man that served us is soooooo caring and kind, he is the best. They had the best food and we enjoyed time there.

I’ve been coming here since I was about 15 (I’m now 21). I have never and I mean NEVER had a bad meal here. I’ve had Indian food all around New York and it never quite shapes up to The Taj Mahal in New Hartford! The staff always greets me with a smile and at this point know me so well that they know when I forget to order things and add it into my order for me so I’m not sad later! They are absolutely wonderful. Best Indian establishment EASILY! If I was on death row the lamb biryani would be my last meal.

Amazing food.put my hubby to sleep right away which means it was good and made him happy will definitely order from you again

Everything was cooked well and tasted amazing. Loved the curry flavors. They served it family style so it was easy to share. Host was very polite and attentive
