Telly's Taverna reviews
19Amazing experience and food. The prices are a bit expensive, but the food is still worth it.
Still hands down one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in NYC…our server Metaxia was exceptional; kind, knowledgeable and gracious. The entire staff is! Will continue to visit here and location in Portchester (Westchester county)
Food here was delicious. Fish was fresh, well seasoned, good olive oil, great wine, server was truly amazing, one of those who has actually tried the food and wine there. Ouzotini cocktail so good too. Get some loukumades for dessert. Prices were reasonable too for the quality.
Solid spot, overall good food but some dishes can be a little oily, some overcooked or dry. The fish dishes looked great but didn’t have a taste. Service is good, a little frantic if it is busy. Definitely a good spot but there are other places in the neighborhood (on the block) that are consistently better so I always end up recommending them over Telly’s. Will be going back soon though to try some more dishes.
I would like to give Telly's a stronger rating, but their prices wouldn't justify it. While the food and service were good, the restaurant has literally doubled their prices since last year. An order of grilled chicken breast (one) with a side of lemon potatoes was $24, and woe to anyone ordering seafood. An order of shrimp scampi a la carte will set you back $42. It's understandable that prices have gone up since the pandemic, but I think it needs to be within reason.
Very Good food and service! If you want truly Authentic best Greek food, this is the place!:)
My mom's 88th Birthday. The service was impeccable. The staff is energetic and engaging. They fulfilled all requests. Had Bronzino, Snapper, Grilled lamb chops, Greek salads, Grilled Octopus. Everything was delicious. We had a party of 10 and again I can't say enough about the staff. Our bill was $650.00 with a bottle of wine and 3extra glasses of White. It was worth every cent and a very generous tip.
Thank you to the Staff at Tellys Taverna Astoria for making our night special.
Excellent Greek food. Great variety of seafood. Their Loukomades was really tasty (and not available everywhere). Very convenient place to stop en route to LaGuardia (10 minute drive)
Every bite was amazing. We got the Greek salad, saganaki, fried squid, shrimp scampi and finished off with pudding in philo dough and the best baklava I've ever had! Would recommend and will be back soon. Also the service was very friendly and very attentive.
The food is decent depending on what is ordered. The grilled items tend to be over-charred/burnt and slightly undercooked or totally over cooked. The fish doesn’t seem fresh and/or properly stored unfortunately. The texture is off and so is the taste. Octopus is too tough. Salad is soggy. The staff is accommodating and trying but still…
Excellent food but mostly loved the customer service with our waitress being from Cyprus - my beloved country.
Telly's Taverna is no doubt the best of Greek in Astoria, food is fresh, delicious and authentic.
I’ve been to telly’s a bunch of times now, and the food has always been fresh and tasty.perfect for family style dining.
BEST GREEK FOOD! FRESH & DELICIOUS! I'VE BEEN EATING FROM THERE FOR YEARS. ALWAYS HITS THE SPOT.
Typical Greek restaurant in Astoria.
Large selection of salads, fish and traditional Greek dishes. We especially loved the grilled fish and of course the ouzo. The price is very fair.
Food was way overpriced, even considering recent inflation. This was the first time I’ve left a restaurant in Astoria in ten years shocked at the bill for what we received. I wish I took a photo of the fried shrimp carelessly tossed on a plate for the entree. Even one of the staff thought it was our appetizer when he picked up the plate, asking if my dad was going to order an entree.
The Sausage with Leeks, Grilled Octopus and the Swordfish were the highlights washed down with a Greek Lager called Fix. Get some Ouzo.
Excellent!
Had the fresh grilled Bronzino.
Loved it.
Greek salad not so much.
Tomatoes, tomatoes tomatoes. If u you like tomatoes this is the salad for you (though not the tastiest tomatoes I ever had).
Decent meal.
