I have been going to the museum since I was a child growing up in NYC and now that I’m a teacher myself I see how the museum is an integral part of New York City history. The staff is dedicated to the preservation of history and all of the events put on are amazing. The workers need a fair contract to continue to do all that they do!

A great museum highlighting some the city's most interesting and fascinating history. It's a shame that the workers who make the museum as wonderful as it is are not paid a fair living wage. Give the workers a fair union contract!

I recently visited the Tenement Museum and had an incredible experience. The exhibits were captivating, providing a fascinating journey through history. The tour guides were not only knowledgeable but also passionate, enhancing the overall experience. However, it's disheartening to learn that some staff, particularly those who are people of color, aren't receiving fair wages. This contradicts the museum's mission and should be addressed to fully align with its values.

I love this museum, has great people there. There are extremely smart and patient. I only wish they get treated fair. They should give the workers a fair union contract. They don’t make enough!

We love the museum but the staff, the educators and guides are what make it really special. We support local 2110 and they deserve a fair living wage!

This museum is really worth checking out! My visit was met with very thorough and easy to understand explanations of working class history from an Educator. However getting to know that these same tour guides aren't being paid livable wages is insane. I will not be paying the tenement museum another visit until this has changed.

We had a great experience at the tenement museum. We did the “After the Famine” guided tour. Our guide/educator, Victor, was very knowledgeable and engaging! He did a fantastic job of explaining details of our family (the Moore family) ’s life in the tenement building and also connecting that with what was happening in NYC and the country at that time period. I felt like I learned so much and would love to make another visit to the museum and do another of the tours on my next trip to the city!

A must-see and yet little known gem of a museum in Manhattan. Such a great tour, such a great experience, it makes history come alive.

Absolutely loved my visit with at the Tenement. I'm a Virginian and always wanted to visit New York. This one was on my list for sure! The staff was very nice and professional. Before I was reading this review, I couldn't help it notice the comments that these workers may not be getting the support that they really need. A solid union contract can do wonders for a team. You're appreciated, people of the Tenement Museum!

Give your employees a fair union contract.
The museum is great, but there is no point in discussing the history of working class people when you’re keeping your employees below the poverty lines. Embarrassing. I will not be returning until this is changed.

Visited the museum recently and as a native New Yorker truly enjoyed this enriching and educational experience. I know NYC is a diverse city through my own upbringing and experiences but after my in depth and immersive tour, I have a better understanding of those before me. The tour guides really make the experience memorable and it’s a shame they aren’t paid ethical, livable wages! With their vast knowledge and immense care of the museum, tour guides deserve an agreement to a fair contract! Do what’s right!

We enjoyed our first ever visit to the Tenement Museum. Our guide, Sara, was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the topics at hand. We did the “After the Famine” tour which was very interesting. I wish we had signed up to do at least one more tour so we could have seen more of this incredible building. The gift shop is great too.

The museum was an amazing experience I feel that the employees should be better compensated for their hard work.

I took a walking tour where we discussed Housing Inequality and was appalled to learn that the full time staff makes bellow NYC poverty levels. For a museum that chooses to operate via guided tour only, how can you, in good faith, pay your staff unlivable wages? The tour guides are highly trained and educated individuals, so why does the museum not compensate them fairly? This is a one of a kind museum, but I will not be returning until there is a FAIR contract.

Great date spot! Went on a date here Friday and had a lovely time. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and while it was depressing at times overall enjoyed the experience. Hoping I hear from him soon. Stay tuned.

Went to the museum last week, received a very in depth and immersive tour! Would love to visit again, but not until the museum agrees to provide a fair contract that pays staff an ethical, livable wages. The tour guides put their all into these tours! They aren’t paid enough for the experience they provide. These staff members are highly skilled but aren’t justly compensated, the museum refuses to pay them living wages. This is absolutely absurd! Agree to a fair contract!

The Tenement Museum is absolutely one of my favorite museums in NYC. I’ve recommended several individuals and everyone raves about their experience. The staff completing the tours makes this experience so memorable, so it breaks my heart that management has been neglecting their needs. Fair contract for the tenement museum staff - pay your staff ethically!
