The Alvin Public House reviews
15This is five star as a neighborhood bar that is welcoming to strangers as well. We went twice around 9 pm both times. There was a crowd of locals who know, greet, and tease one another. Charming. We didn't eat but the drinks are good. Service depends on who serves you.
Cozy, lovely pub. It's nice to go to a bar that's not blasting music for a change.
The Alvin truly is a special place. Away from the crowds and chaos that are present on the avenues, The Alvin is always consistent from the food, to the service, to the beer selections. Highly recommended for games/matches, family events, or just a place to hang out after work. Highly, HIGHLY recommended!
A bit random, didn't impress in any way. Prices are also on the higher side (for the location).
Stopped in here for some appetizers and a few beers. I would HIGHLY recommend the “Delirium” beer. The owner was also kind enough to give me some beer coasters for my collection. Looking forward to returning the next time I am in NYC.
We have been here a few times for group outings and I’ve always had a good experience. Most recently we came to say farewell to a friend and had a pretty large group of about 15-20. We made a reservation day of and they were able to accommodate us (it wasn’t really crowded anyway at 430 on a Tuesday). They had the tables set up for us in the back room and a large pitcher of water so we could keep refilling as needed. We got some happy hour drinks and appetizers (obviously some fries for me). Everything was good, the back is really nice and bright, and the staff was friendly.
Outstanding. The best Guinness in NYC I have ever had!
Food was also delicious and really good variety on the menu.
Staff were really friendly and great atmosphere.
Just stopped in here today and what a GEM! Great staff, I ordered the Alvin burger which was absolutely banging, also substituted onion rings and legit top 5 onion rings I've ever had. Super crispy, highly recommend this place plus they have outdoor space in the back and front
Popped in last night for some decent cocktails in a cute place that didn’t charge a reservation fee or cover charge. I’m so happy I found this place!
We were greeted with smiles by the two staff on the floor- they were so friendly and made us feel very at home and welcomed.
They had a good sized selection of cocktails- the pineapple mule and spritz are amazing! I like spicy ginger beers and theirs definitely had a kick.
I’m glad I live close by and will definitely be coming back! Thanks for a great evening.
Nice bar and food was lovely also. Pints of beer were fantastic. Service was 5*. Girl was very friendly
Such a cute place! Quiet & full of locals, it was a great spot to stop in for a few drinks and game plan the rest of our day!
The nachos were great & the drinks were prompt, our bartender was wonderful too!
We came by to have a dinner on Friday night because it’s close to home and even if we arrived at 8 pm without reservation they found a spot for us.
The place is nice and pretty big, the workers welcomed us with a big smile so we immediately felt at ease. We sat in the big room on the backside, it wasn’t to crowded neither too loud, so even if it was during weekend we could talk to each other without screening, the only problem about the location was that this secondary room was lot more colder that the main one.
I ordered an hamburger that should have been raw but it was just a little bit more cooked than how I usually like it, anyway it was a good meal.
We drank two different IPA each and I really enjoyed them.
They have a great selection of beers so it’s a cool place to have an easy night off!
Great bar with a great Guinness and delicious buffalo wings. I wish they had more TVs but its a great neighborhood spot
All I can say is that Alvins chicken curry is life changing! Visited here last year, and have been on a mission to find something similar! I am in NYC, and plan to revisit! ’ Cannot wait to come back!
The service was very good but the food was quite disappointing. We ordered a lot of dishes and the only thing that I enjoyed was the nachos. The steak sandwich, scotch egg, mac & cheese, and brussel sprouts were all kind of bland and not that great. I’d go back just for drinks.
