The Baylander, New York NY

The Baylander is my favorite bar in NYC and I miss it all winter while it's closed. The staff are lovely, the music is always great but not too loud to obstruct conversation, and the drinks are delicious.

Update: Stopped in Sunday morning to take a rest break while paddling north and there was a beautiful bride and handsome groom, not sure if they had the wedding or just the reception there but a wonderful setting for such a celebration.

Ppppphhhhheeeeewwwww! My dog and I arrived at the ship on my paddle board and it was a welcome break from a strong wind that varied constantly out of the S, then the SW, kicking up an awkward cross chop as we headed home from a paddle up to Inwood. It was a good break and gave me time to look over this retired Navy ship with the interesting history. She often gets referred to as the Navy’s smallest aircraft carrier but that’s not entirely accurate. She was used to train helicopter pilots, from multiple branches of the military, in how to land on and take off from a ship at sea.

Tried to go here on Sunday but it was closed. The sign indicated that it should be open until 9: 30, but it was locked and there was no sign explaining why. Lots of people were confused and waiting outside the gate.

To be honest, in all my visits to NY I'd never ventured this far north... Loved it!

Not only did we get ridiculously beautiful sunsets but what a great vibe on the boat, and food/wine - highly recommend!

So, the 2 times I've visited this place, I must say I enjoyed both visits. The food is so very tasty, and the staff is very friendly n respectful. The tables were very clean and put back together after the customers were done with their food. The wait time to be seated wasn't long, either. Will return soon. Thanks for a great end of summer!

We went the on Saturday @ 8pm and was greeted by the staff that we had to "hurry" and place a food order as the kitchen was closing in 5 mins. WTH the restaurant closes at 11p? So we placed an quick order and by 9pm they turned off the heaters and the cleaning staff was watching us waiting for us to complete our meals so they could leave.it was only 9: 45pm This was terrible rush and unpleasant evening. Maybe will go at opening to see if it is a better experience. LOL

Went on a week night for evening drinks. Despite 2 private parties, the space felt open and easy. Decent selection of beers. They have cocktails and wine too.
Bathrooms are clean. Staff is all friendly and nice.

Good drinks. Good lobster roll. Honestly decent prices we sat in the boat and talked and had some drinks. Not rushed at all. Nice place

The food choices were limited more like snacks not dinner unless you want to pick a bunch of little things to eat as opposed to a satisfying meal had shrimp tacos even with the toppings the shrimp needed more seasoning. The sky blue lemonade had very little lemonade had to go add some to make it palatable

Very nice place, where you can relax looking at the river, very good drinks and food alike, I hope to return soon.

I’ve lived in the city for so long and have never known about this location! It was a cute little pit stop on my way out of the city. The drinks were really good- but the food was just okay. But for the view and the vibe, it was worth it. I’d definitely come here again for drinks!

Such a wonderful experience to dine on this converted vessel! Service was excellent, food was SO GOOD which was surprising considering I expected to mainly be paying for the view. Must do!

Had a great time here but it did get pretty hot below deck when we were forced under by the rain

Amazing all around! Fabulous staff, great food, strong drinks and affordable pricing. Absolutely fantastic spot with a unique atmosphere. Will definitely be back!:)

Easy spot for casual hangout and to catch gorgeous sunsets over the Hudson. Service was friendly and genuine. The bbq sandwich & fried calamari were ️️ out of 5, overly seasoned. Would come back for drinks and ambiance.

Went here for drinks and small bites. Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of both. Mixed drinks were balanced and the food while a little slow was quite good. Service was bar service only and the line was a little long but I think we just arrived at a busy moment as there was no line when I went back for a second drink.
