The Bronx Park Avenue Transitional Housing Facility reviews
12Only in the Bronx would the local politicians consider it acceptable to locate a men's shelter immediately adjacent to a grammar school. Much like N. A. I. C. A. 's Tremont Avenue facility, this shelter is comprised largely of career criminals and mentally ill. There is a significant amount of patrons loitering in the immediate vicinity of the facility. As with the Tremont Avenue shelter, this is an extremely poor location for something like this given its negative impact on the adjacent working class family community. It ought to be relocated to a more industrial area. With regard to the mentally ill patrons, they need to receive appropriate housing and medical treatment. It is obvious that the City of New York has shirked their responsibility and allowed inept "non-profits" to run amuck.
The feeling of home for a short while! Hope thay can truly help me i have suffered with my homelessness i HAVE been asaluted T keener mens shelter 3 TIME S.
Super dirty and no working outlets in rooms. Clients must charge at down stairs outlets between 06h00 - 21h30
It's a steady process compared to other facilities I've been placed in! The staff take they're jobs serious and the case workers actually honestly look and act like they care about helping the men in need of a home! Only downside is that they won't let u sleep in on the weekends! But the food here is edible
A working housing facility which helps men to get a stable place to reside, and seek employment.
Dirty infested with but bugs stuff treat people rude the food is horrible the bathrooms are always dirty
This is an aweful shelter! Disgusting bathrooms that are rarely cleaned, blood hogspit and unknown substances in sinks, toilets, floors and in showers. Front desk residential aides and security, taunt, make fun of, fight violently and are unwilling to help/guide clients. Shelter case managers are unsupportive of helping your case and they are negative and disrespectful to you for absolutely no reason. Employment office is a waste of time, because the workers are worried about everything else besides helping clients find employment. They are highly sensitive and rude to clients and get upset if you are unable to go to one interview. Residential aides take several hours to give you the bare necessities to survive and curse at you if you ask for something they don’t have. Clients are witnessed dead in bathrooms by overdosing on drugs. Health concerns with HIV/AIDS positive client’s bodily fluids everywhere.
If I could rate this shelter out of business and existence, I would.
Great shelter.and honestly helps the disabled mainly to get vouchers to get out the shelter system.
IT'S NOT THAT GOOD. NO ONE
IS TRYING TO HELP NO ONE
THAT IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
TO ME. BUT I BELIEVE IT GODS
DOING WHEY I AM HERE.
I been in many shelters and i must say this is one of the top 5 best. There shelters where you sleep in a dorm with 100 people and they feed you like a child. Bronx park shelter is warm, you get a 7 bed room that you share and the food is better then other places that i been to. Only thing I don't like is they always trying to send you to Queens of you work. I work in Harlem so why do I want to stay on Queens?
I love NIACA organization they help everyone in need. Since I had hard time and very unethical organizations to help me. I ask coalition for the homeless in Fulton St for the best shelter they can find I was imediately transferred to NIACA in park ave. I am glad to find an organization that helps and listen to you. I recommend it to all young or mature males to have a fall out at this place for a reconstruction of your life.
Living conditions are inhumane. A jailhouse atmosphere for some warriors in transition.
Enjoy your journey
