The Capitol Theatre reviews
18We went to see the Gipsy Kings. We watched an opening act for a half hour, then waited another half hour. Maybe maybe more until the Gipsy Kings came on the stage. I stayed in the car for an hour. If this continues they’ll have nobody coming.
It was a great venue to watch a concert. The venue was late in letting us all in for the concert. There were a lot of security and they were very thorough in searching everyone but, it seems that we were waiting on the security to get ready for the event and that's what the delay was all about.
An iconic venu that has hosted most if not all rock legends.
Parking is a bit tricky, but sound is amazing.
The Capital Theater is still a wonderful place to go party and see a show. The bathrooms are clean the sound system is just phenomenal. Please continue to read my reviews hit that like button and subscribe. Have a great day bye.
Visited the Capitol Theatre for the first time on 9/12/23 to see Ray LaMontagne. There is a parking lot right across the street for $25. We didn't see any other close parking lots. The security staff and all theatre staff were very nice and helpful.
The theatre itself is beautiful. Feels like a cross between a Broadway theatre and the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ.
There are multiple bars with drinks and snacks that are located on both levels.
The only drawback were the uncomfortable seats. We will definitely return!
A top-notch concert venue that is experiencing a renaissance of sorts. Long known as one of Jerry Garcia's favorite venues to perform in, the venue fell into disrepair before its restoration about a decade ago. Since then the quality of performers has significantly stepped up, making this a great place to see live music outside of NYC. Living in Fairfield County, getting to concerts is a breeze, ticket prices are a fraction of what they are for similarly sized venues in NYC and the sound quality is always impeccable. Over the last 6-7 years had the pleasure of seeing 311, the Wailers, Gov't Mule, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and so many more. Definitely don't sleep on this one.
I love the Capitol theater. Despite it's compact and tall design, it can host 1,800 people, enough to host high level bands. Even seats in the balcony are close to the stage, making it possible to see the performers with ease. It's cozy, good acoustics, excellent dynamic illumination, easy to get in and out. A large MTA commuter parking makes it easy to park nearby for free, just 5 minutes walk.
Last time I was here in October 2022 Jeff Beck did one of his last (beautiful) concerts here. This time it was ZZTop, another memorable concert of a band close to my heart.
Highly recommended!
Classic old theater, great history of Rock & Roll shows. Just saw ZZ TOP there, wonderful!
One of the last music institutions left on the East Coast. Showcase of music of all genres.
Clean facilities and easy parking close to the theatre.
A historical site planted in the middle of Port Chester, it is a classical focus for rock experience. Let yourself settle into the historical vibes.
George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic

I like the old school vibe here. Close to the Metro North Station so an easy trip from NYC.
We recently went to a concert at the capitol theatre and had a really good night! Getting in was really quick and easy. The venue itself was small but really pretty. It’s capacity is about 1800 people I think it said so it was definitely a different concert experience. I’ve been to some smaller venues and was pleasantly surprised that my feet didn’t stick to the floor the whole night. The drink pricing was also more reasonable than other venues I’ve been to. They had some food choices such as popcorn and waffles!? I had already eaten so I didn’t get any food. I got a modelo to drink and it was really bad. Usually I like it a lot and this was really sour/bitter tasting. Also something I think is important is that I guess it has some sort of AC in it but it wasn’t very cold inside. It was mid 90s outside so I wasn’t sure if I should wear shorts/pants if the ac was cranked or not. I went with shorts and was so glad I did because I was quite warm inside.
Also, not sure if this was artist preference or theater but they were pretty strict about not recording the show on your phones.
Bought tickets with row and seat number called out.
Arrived to find no seats, SRO
Huge ripoff
People packed like cattle
Never again
Saw Peter Frampton Sunday night. Great Concert! Great staff at the theater we're friendly and helpful. Great night out!
Nice place good sound, but parking isnt really easy to find and all the free parking lots around the place station a guy in front who charges you $25.00 to park
Facial Recognition software in use at this Venue. Not very accurate. I was pulled from line for a more invasive search. Jerry Garcia would be disgusted by that! Shapiro should be ashamed!
Legendary rock palace, what more needs to be said.
