The Charleston House, Rochester NY

I used to love this place when it was Unter Biergarden, but we tried this new place and were very disappointed. To be fair it was an odd time and the place was nearly empty so maybe they were off ther game. The food was good, but took forever to come out, and every beer we tried on tap (several) had dirty tap lines and still had some sanitizer in the line. Someone clearly didn't know the correct way to maintain the tap system.

I may try them again at a more regular time because the food was decent, but my expectations are low.

They could do so much More! It could really be a nice place! I would hate to think that it’s not open to a larger variety of ppl! SMH

The ambience is on point I love the wood finish throughout the restaurant and I like the old style set up. However the Mac and cheese was dry and tasted like noodles the wings were ok but I don't understand the flavor of the house sauce it doesn't taste like what it smells like and I don't even know what it smells like. What got me is that they only serve beer and wine

Thanks Tracy & Evelyn! What a fun time I had visiting this wine bar. Great conversation, clean, and those signature wings are just crispy perfection. Two glasses of house Cabernet was all I needed to really top off the evening. I just couldn’t stop salivating how this dish was great on top of the experience.

Good location, enjoyed the BBQ burger, fried green tomatoes, sweet potato fries, drinks. Customer service was excellent, can't wait to return! Very clean and welcoming.

Wish I taken pictures of the food. I highly recommend this place! Food was amazing/fresh I ordered the jerky chicken with a salad, my family had chicken tenders & sweet potato fries which was also amazing with a side of Mac & Cheese, fried green tomatoes! Service was wonderful very polite always checked in to makes sure we didn’t need anything! Also clean & family friendly. Will be back!

Wish I had taken photos of my food. The house sauce is so good on French fries and on wings. I ordered, the wings, chicken tenders, mac and cheese, sweet potato fries and fries green tomatoes. Service was excellent and so was the food. Very laid back discrete atmosphere. AND THE FOOD IS OPEN LATE, the kitchen closes at 12 AM

The wings were delicious! Dry rub with a side house sauce. And gluten free! One of the owners assured that even the fryer they are cooked in is gf. Roomy, good atmosphere outside in the sunken patio. Perfect conversation spot.

I did not have food so I can't speak to that. But the rest of my experience was nice and enjoyable. Except for the fact that they didn't have alcohol. Just wine and beer.
We went for karaoke, which is always a good time!

The outside seating area is nice with the fireplace, and the bar had good and quick service.

Wings are among the best you will ever try. Other food and drinks were good as well. Always loved the interior ambiance of that building. Definitely a place to check out.

The is excellent here and the service staff are the best. Great family spot to enjoy some amazing food and a great time out.

Came here for the first time and the food is pretty great and the service was nice as well. They had a wonderful menu selection to pick from and their prices are very affordable too.

The wings and the Charleston sauce are fantastic! The service was very good and the staff is very kind.

Will definitely be returning! Excellent service, food was hot and fresh. The Charleston wings were delicious, no sauce or blue cheese needed! Fresh collard greens remind you of down south cooking. Boiled peanuts were sold out but will try them next time. A gem to have in the city.

We came for the wings based on other reviews and we're glad we listened! The wings come fried in a dry rub with their signature Charleston sauce on the side which was tasty. We ordered them crispy and they came perfectly done. Staff was super friendly and we'll be back.

Outstanding food, atmosphere, and FOOD! Wings, fried green tomatoes, and catfish were all PERFECT. The private room was perfect for a birthday party we celebrated.
