Good drinks, unimpressive food.we ordered the margherita flatbread and it arrived just…. Wet. The tomatoes hadn’t been drained; they needed to prebake the crust a bit or something.french onion soup needs to toast that crouton; oniony but uninspired.kind waiter.
How could waffles be so DENSE/hard that you have to saw at them with a knife, shouldn't they be fluffy on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. I used to rave about the food at the bell, pre-pandemic and I had high hopes but it seems the pandemic has done a number on this place because I meet some friends for brunch and it was expensive and tasteless. The service was meh till the end we received the bill and there was a fee for using a charge card. WHAT CARD? We had not received our bill much more determined how we were going to pay and that charge was included as taxable money. There were no signs that we had seen at the time to say there was an additional charge fee and the woman "in charge"/not the manager was really unpleasant when we had asked about it. Sadly I must say I don't see myself or my friends returning any time soon. The good thing is that Chelsea/ NYC has quite a few restaurants to choose from especially ones that know how to make good waffles and other items to please the palate and make the tastebuds sing.
I still don't understand why someone who is not a manager would get worked up that we initially asked a staff person what that charge was for? The staff member was pleasant and answered our question with no problem. The not the manager came over to us with A massive shoulder chip and say to us in such a condescending manner that "he is just a bus boy" as if he could not possibly answer our query. It was infuriating and rather insulting frankly. He is a member of the staff, he had answered the question without rancor or attitude yet this person attributed him to being just a bus boy as if that should explain something, I am not sure what actually. I think what really escalated a mediocre dining experience into a negative one was the tone and unpleasantness this not manager responded to us and how effortlessly they disregarded their staff. Not cool at all. We expect better from you Chelsea Bell.
"Businesses that choose to add surcharges are required to follow protocols to ensure full transparency. " I didn't see any transparency in how this fee was added and then taxed.
4/27/22 back for a beer with Dennis after work, still a cool spot. He got an order of the calamari, I stole 2 pieces, cooked to perfection!
Beer selection is decent, prices ok.
2019: A cool spot. We stopped in for a hot drink- it was good and the vibe here is ok. I Need to come back and try the food.
Delicious drinks with pleasant staff. Recommended for a quick drink at a decent city price. They offer happy hour and other specials.
I was legit impressed by my salmon hollandaise after coming in with low expectations. Kids loved the pancakes.
Went in to watch a basketball game. Screens are good. Service got tag teamed around, and we had to ask multiple times for things, and one drink just never arrived. The food I ordered was cold in the center and I probably should have sent it back, but didn't.
Menu was small; not sure if that's because of COVID. Sauces had great depth of flavor. Few vegetarian choices and was quite expensive.
Service wasn’t good at all, food was even worse. It was a slow, slow Sunday, only one waitress. Really only good for 21 year old brunch birthdays, or maybe a quick beer at the bar before the game.
Burgers and salads are very good, beer pours seem good and were full pints. Service was ok but could have e been better if the waitress was not also tending bar.
My husband and I love this place, the people who work here are the best! Great happy hour and great food. Highly recommend.
We stopped by on a Monday night for a quick dinner and loved the seating, music and how quiet it was. We also really enjoyed the food and drinks which is the only reason why they're not getting a two star. They have wonderful comfort food. Our waitress was unfortunately very inattentive, we had to ask if we could order food and we never got a chance to order a second drink. Our table was cleared without confirmation, and we sat there waiting to order another drink for awhile. Finally we decided to leave but it took forever to get our ticket to pay even though we were sitting there with a cleared off table and no drinks. Also none of the staff had on masks, which was odd since we have been to a lot of restaurants in NYC and every staff member had on a mask.
This place charges you extra if you want ice in your drink! Also charges extra fee for "non cash adjustment" even before asking the payment method. What a rip off!
