The Chequit, Shelter Island Heights NY

We were a party of 6 at the restaurant. The Asian server was wonderful. And the food was very good. Great experience.

Visited for dinner during a weekend stay on Shelter Island.
By far the best dinner we had during our visit.
We primarily ordered the specials. Very delicious and flavorful dishes.
I look forward to returning.

Today we stopped I.for an afternoon lunch at the newly renovated Chequit Inn with high expectations based upon the massive investment and articles we read. WHAT A DISASTER! The prices were high which is to be expected for a first class menu but we were not meant to sample it. We were ushered to a table outside, and we were the only ones on the patio for a Friday Afternoon at 3pm. We sat alone with no service for what seemed like a half hour. The individual who sat us did come out 3 times to either ask us if a server had shown up and none had. We left in disgust. I would suggest the owner sell, take the money out because lack of service will surely drive the Checquit out of business in a season or two. The views are poor, the menu is expensive, and the service is somewhere between none existent and poor. The Rams head inn is a better bet on Shelter Island.
