Best beer place in Albany. The food surpasses the beer. The free pizzas that come with each drink at lunchtime during weekdays are a nice touch, but not really necessary:)

Love this place as a restaurant as well as the nightlife. It can get extremely packed and they should really work on the amount of people allowed in because sometimes you can barely move. Good quick bites during the day.

City beer hall offers a large outdoor space where you can easily social distance.
My gf and I sat in the back part of the outdoor patio on a Friday evening and felt completely safe.
We ordered the Poutin and shared the chicken and waffles, everything was really fresh and delicious!
The beer selection is great and a small personal pizza is offered for free with every beer!
Do yourself a favor and try this place out if you're in the area.

If you are looking for a place in downtown Albany on a Sunday, this is probably one of the only places that is actually open. We stopped here for a beer and a quick bite. They are super covid compliant with hand sanitizer and masks readily available upon entry.

We sat at the bar which is appropriately spaced and I ordered some fries, which are crispy shoestrings with a side of spicy dip, and lightly salted, My dining mate also ordered yogurt which is not on their menu but we somehow found it on the Internet so they made it anyway but it is not an item they normally serve. They do not give you menus. The chef actually came out and asked if she was allergic to nuts because he was going to make her a wonderful concoction. When that came out I realized I definitely ordered the wrong thing! It looked so healthy and delicious with fresh fruit and nuts.

The bartender was attentive and genuinely friendly. Give this place some love. It's a gem! Lots of space, great uniques tastes and cool peeps!

Great place, staff communicated well when things needed to be organized.thought the stairs where gonna be hard to keep flow when it became busy they weren't everybody was having great time. Nice wood work craftsmanship through out. Great music.

Love this place. They let me play with my crayons upstairs and the manager, Trevor. Is a super awesome person Hope to paint here again soon

Always a good time and customer service is top notch! Even though you share a table with others, you don't even know they are there. The decor is beautiful, and I heard the upstairs entertainment is great at night. There's a DJ and space for hanging out.

Nice drink selection and great food! Indoor area was casual and spacious. Loved that we got tickets for complimentary pizza too!

Worst service, the bouncer at the door simply said he doesn’t care for our business! They should put some civilized and polite people on the door.

Great little hang out. They usually have a good selection on tap. The food menu is small but interesting and tasty. They offer free little personal pizzas with purchase of beer, just take the little ticket, go to the kitchen area, and trade it for a pizza. The pizza isn't great, but it's free, and sometimes you just want a little something to go with the beer.

We were in Albany for one night, and The City Beer Hall had been recommended to us by a friend. It looks like a beer hall, casual atmosphere with friendly service, long wooden benches, and a free small cheese pizza with every $5+ beer (good selection if beers). The menu, though, is what far exceeded or expectations and went well beyon typical beer hall fare. Definitely recommend checking it out if you find yourself in Albany

Really good food, fair prices, and proved to my New England biased beer palette that NY can brew some really amazing beer as well. I am from MA but will detour for a special trip next time I find myself in the area.

The James Brown brunch was very nice. The music was perfect and the staff were very nice.not too many options for those who dont eat meat on the menu so French toast it was for me, and they were cold. The mimosa were good though

Free Pizza when you order a drink and it was pretty good. The bucket special is a good deal and let's you sample a wide variety of beers. The bartender asked what kind of beers we were into prior to making our bucket which was nice. Both bartenders were very nice and attentive.

Every single visit to The City Beer Hall has been great. Their food is delicious and the selection of beer is wonderful. With each beer purchase you receive a ticket for a personal pizza. You can just come here, buy beer and eat the pie. Customer service is awesome, and the feel of the establishment is very historic with a modern touch. I always make it a point to stop in when I'm in the area!

Extensive beer list. Great history, quaint outside seating area with a bar and picnic tables. Table umbrellas for shade. Wonderful service, will return

Great place with great drinks and great food. Staff was super. Fun place to visit when I'm Albany. So glad we went there.

Strong drinks. Crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Took over 15 minutes to get my order. But it's was all good. There are some very interesting people there.

Great beer selection. Free pizza with beer is made on flat bread. It gets better the more you drink. Great long tables you can reserve for an after work get together. Can be loud.
