Restaurant The Dutch reviews
19The Staff is very friendly, if I would have a chance to come back to this town I would certainly stop by here
Not bad for a touristy establishment. Somewhat short on staff like most establishments in this area (downtown Saugerties) Reasonably priced good food and drink. Avoid on Sundays.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dutch, a gem of a restaurant in Saugerties. It has become our go-to place after a day of skiing on the mountain, and I must say, it truly stands out among the local dining options. The Dutch is one of the best restaurants in the area, and the fact that it stays open late sets it apart from the competition.
The atmosphere at The Dutch is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day. Their selection of IPA beers is impressive, with a rotating variety that always keeps things fresh. On my last visit, I was particularly taken by the KCBC IPA.
The food at The Dutch is nothing short of incredible. The Dutch Burger is one of the best I've ever had, and the House Smoked Pastrami Reuben is another must-try item on the menu. Their commitment to quality and flavor is evident in every dish.
One suggestion I have for the restaurant is to consider expanding the menu or rotating it weekly. As a frequent visitor, I would love to see a bit more variety to keep things interesting. However, this minor detail doesn't take away from the overall excellence of the dining experience.
I also want to commend The Dutch for their reasonably priced kids' menu. Their affordable and delicious kids' burgers and fries are a refreshing change from the usual overpriced children's options. It's clear that The Dutch values families and understands the needs of parents.
In conclusion, The Dutch is an outstanding restaurant in Saugerties that offers great food, a fantastic atmosphere, and a family-friendly environment. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a meal.
Great food, as always, but the entrees came out right after our soups. We had to choose which gets cold. Not a waitstaff issue. Back of the house not paying attention or communicating.
What a bummer. It was a very cold day and we were excited for a nice bowl of Onion Soup. Not only did the soup come out lukewarm, it seemed undercooked and more a less a bowl of soggy onions. The chicken sandwich was dry and the fries certainly left something to be desired for a restaurant at this price point. To top it off the restaurant seemed understaffed, typically something we could overlook in today’s employment environment but it was really just the cherry on top of “won’t go back”.
Just happened upon this place while in town, and wow, the fish and chips were downright delicious. Great beer on tap. The staff was awesome. Will find a reason to get back there for sure!
Excellent Schnitzel for my son and I, Loved it! My wife loved the Pastrami Ruben and truffle fries! Service is spot on and we will drive the hour ride just to get dinner again! Ty to THE DUTCH RESTAURANT!
Food was pretty good, my son and I split 4 dishes, Falafel burger was a little firm but delicious, wings were a little overdone, The sausage's were very good and so we're the corn ribs. But I enjoyed the Butterscotch pudding the most.
Belt was great. One of my friends did not like the Reuben. Another person did. Another person had a great hamburger. Waitress was great.
Delicious food, great selection of craft beer, and excellent service. The truffle fries were the best french fries I’ve ever had. My falafel burger was so tasty, including the sesame-seed bun which was very fresh and enhanced the crispy and flavorful falafel. Our server, Bob, was outstanding. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful dinner. We had just come from the Dutchess County Fair and it was a fine way to close out the evening before heading home.
Best Reuben we've had in a while, great Dutch Onion Soup, and Corn Ribs were cute, creative and delicious. Great thanks nes and service too. We're going to be back on the regular!
Burgers were delicious and portion sizes generous, the service was really efficient, and atmosphere was great. Came here after hiking in the Catskills and left happy!
As my weekend journey continues, "The Dutch" was on the list of eateries to go to.
HANDS DOWN THE BEST FRENCH FRIES I'VE EVER HAD!
If I'm lying, I'm dying!
Never thought the day would come where I automatically get hooked on French Fries!
As for the burger, well.you're definitely gonna want to take a nap!
Just awesomeness!
Our party of 4 dropped in after the lunch hour without reservations and we felt lucky to get a table. We had Smoked Ruben sandwiches and schnitzel plates and everyone enjoyed their food. My partner had to bring her leftover schnitzel and German potato salad home and it made a great breakfast the next day
Service was spot on though we were warned that it would be slow due to staffing. Everyone felt it would be worth stopping at again.
We came in with six adults, a kid and two babies (plus a dog!) and the staff was so kind and accommodating. They rearranged patio tables for us. The food was delicious and they had a nice local beer selection.
Somewhat disappointing if you are looking for "Dutch" drinks or cuisine, there is none of that, they don't even have Heineken!? !?
Just had drinks and dessert at the bar, but all of the staff was so friendly and the desserts were amazing! We had a bad restaurant experience earlier in the day and this made up for it. We were greeted by everyone and then everyone thanked us on the way out! Thank you for a great time!
Stopped in Saugerties on the way back from upstate and found this gem. Delicious delicious delicious. We had the onion blossom. Killer appetizer. Crispy, seasoned well, and so much melted cheese. Loved it. We also had the cheese curds with gravy which was alright. For entrees, we had the Dutch Onion soup, reuben, and dumplings. BEST REUBEN PERIOD! Incredible flavor. Wife loved her dumplings and soup. Best part was the staff who frequently checked in asked if we needed to go boxes, and were really friendly. The service, food, and how nice it was inside as well as ourdoor seating in front, worth 5 stars.
The food was great and the atmosphere was cozy, but what really made our visit was our waitress. I did not remember her name, but though she has only worked there a few months had extensive knowledge of all menus, informed the chef of my life threatening food allergy, and never let our cups go empty despite having an 8 top in the next room. She was attentive, energetic, positive, and we will be back again because of her.
