The Freight House Cafe, Mahopac NY

What a great place. Warm and welcoming with a varied menu and a bar. I got something to go, but will definitely return to check out the nightlife. A little hard to find - in the back of the lot, against the old RR tracks/walking path. So turn when your GPS tells you.

Charming place, great coffee every time, and I can only say iv ate only breakfast there but it's always awesome!

Extremely overpriced for poor quality food and small portions.i went with two people so got three food items and three drinks, costed $80 and we left hungry.for that type of money i could have gone to a sit down restaurant with quality food and servers who actually come to your table to take your order.
They charged over $4 to add two over easy eggs to the avocado toast which came over hard.if you’re going to charge over four dollars for eggs, you better cook it right.we waited almost an hour for our food, mind you it was avocado toast and two wraps - something i could make for myself in 5 minutes. I ordered the mahopac wrap which I was told it came with a side of potato salad which is in the picture - it was honestly comical the small size of this, how can you call this a side? ! Thats what you put a condiment in.the best part was that they charged me for this ‘side! ’ how ridiculous.the bacon in this wrap was so over cooked all i could taste was burnt bacon.there no pico or beans in this wrap that i could find.just rice and burnt bacon.the other person i was with ordered a turkey wrap with had maybe one full slice of deli meat turkey they probably got at walmart.it was drenched in their cranberry mayo which was dripping out of the wrap and the wrap was soggy.there was little to no toppings in the actual wrap.the only positive aspect about this experience was the drinks - the bartender was great and asked us our preferences for our espresso martinis which was delicious.

Stopped by after a walking tour of The Old Put. It had been pointed out during the tour because it is the old freight house. Food was great. Loved the Breakfast Bowl. Very cute place. Would definitely go back.

Love this place. A favorite spot of mine when I am in Mahopac. Healthy, delicious eats. And love the charming atmosphere and friendly staff. So good!

Delicious organic food and the prices are reasonable! Try the chai smoothie way better than Starbucks! The hummus wrap delicious and light. Love it!

Donna is the owner she is such a hardworking woman and she's a huge supporter of small business! Love to see small business supporting small business. She also does cool event nights throughout the week. Also if you have a dog the PUP TREATS! MY DOG IS CRAZY FOR THEM AND THEYRE AFFORDABLE AND HANDMADE! Check them out!

Awesome place! Everything we had was very tasty and thoughtfully prepared. Even the iced coffee had coffee ice cubes. And service was super friendly and efficient.

The food is simple, but made with care and attention to detail. The coleslaw is exceptional, and home made, where a less caring host would simply add premade catering coleslaw. The chicken burger was delicious, as was the BLTA (BLT with Avocado). All perfectly prepared.

This has instantly moved to the top of our list for coffee ride destinations.

This place is a little slice of heaven! The food, coffee, atmosphere, and most importantly the wonderful people who work there are all amazing. Full of kindness and warmth. The menu is very customizable as well. I have been going here since it opened and the same charm is still there every time I go!

SO homey and sweet — the employees were so friendly and hilarious, and the food was awesome! If I lived closer, I’d come every weekend!

I love the decor at the Freight House. They have outdoor seating but we came on a Sunday on a soggy weather so we were not able to enjoy our meals outside. Coffee is self served and they offer different flavors. "Freight House " Coffee is strong and we love it that way. Just the flavorful toasted taste Without the burnt taste. If you are dining in, mugs are available. If you want coffee to be served piping hot like we do, just asked them to zap it and they would gladly do it for you.

Menu is provided to you once seated and once you know what to order, you go upfront and placed them. The dishes will be served when ready. If you are familiar with 9W market, the set up is similar however Freight house is cozier. On a Sunday, around noon, a guitarist started to perform inside. Being seated inside, the sound system didn't work for our sensitive ears.lol, the music played was good though. If seated outside, would be perfect.

Now onto to our breakfast orders:

Putnam - delicious. For next time, we will request the maple syrup on the side because it was too much for our liking.

Mushroom toast - delicious. I would request kale cooked well for next visit as I want my kale well cooked.

French toast - very good

I would definitely be back! Staff are very accommodating, male and female!

Stopped off here during my long bike ride on the trail way. Loved how the ice was actually coffee in my iced coffee. Sandwich was good too! The girl at the counter was super sweet and patient with me asking questions and making up my mind. If I ever bike around there again I’ll be back!
