The Garden City Hotel

DO NOT RECOMMEND. My brother just stayed during his wedding reception and the staff was rude. Additionally, they charged an additional $300 “cleaning” fee for some rose petals. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! Be careful when booking your stay there.

I went here with my 3 kids and husband the other night, and the service was horrible. I got very rude looks from the hotel staff and when I asked for room service it came hours late. The rooms itself were uncomfortable and the way the staff treated me was beyond unacceptable. I've never written a 1 star review for anything but I have to warn anyone who is planning a vacation to NOT stay at the Garden City Hotel. Front desk acts entitled and talks to me like I'm a child when I'm a grown woman. Fix your attitude and service

Was there for an event dinner. The hotel was rebuilt years ago, and the powers that be have kept it up. I can't give an assessment of the hotel itself as a place in which to stay.

The most horrible experience. We got there at almost 2 A. M on our wedding night and we asked for a late checkout and he was giving us a hard time about it. Then he said ok fine you can check out at 12. Then things were taking so long that the bell hop had a nasty look on his face. The following morning we got a call for 11 AM check out and when I said no its for 12 he was rude and asked who told us that and said it wasnt documented. Overall not worth $420

A honeymoon is supposed to be a fun-filled celebration of a newly wed couple.they didn’t have anything to make it special so we decorated the bed w simply rose petals and they’d charged us hundreds extra to clean that? I could do that myself in a few minutes

Very clean room, the staff were very professional would definitely would stay there again, and would recommend to anyone

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Do not spend your special wedding day or weekend at this hotel. I had spent my weekend here and had my room decorated with some rose petals. The staff rushed me at check out and added a ~$300 smoking fee. It took days of correspondence to get a reply from management who said it was not due to smoking but in fact due to rose petals. Not sure how cleaning rose petals costs the same as a night at the hotel. The staff were rude on the phone as well as when we were checking out. Made my wife and I very uncomfortable. In contrast, the next hotel we used actually had a rose petal decoration set up when they found out when we were newly weds. Not going to lie, seeing the rose petals caused a bit of PTSD given how horrible my experience was at the Garden City Hotel. If interested to celebrate a wedding, would advise finding a finer and classier hotel with staff who are more accommodating and upfront about things. The staff did absolutely nothing to make us feel special or congratulate us. They are absolutely monetary driven and extremely unprofessional. Find a better hotel to celebrate special occasions.

I would just like to give my opinion on this hotel. I absolutely do NOT recommend booking a room here.like in what world do you charge $300 just to clean up roses are you in kindergarten or sum? Like even i could do that.oh nah even my two year old cousin could do that in like 30 seconds so for a bunch of oldies that be complaining about picking up flowers is the dumbest thing ive ever heard.talking bout sum "garden city hotel"? HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My uncle and my new aunt had just got married, and the staff of the hotel were SO RUDE
Since it was his WEDDING RECEPTION, it was decorated with simple roses and they charged THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS to clean it up. Like how hard is it to clean rose petals what!? I do NOT recommend this hotel at ALL.

Very clean rooms & hotel with friendly staff. Coffee/tea on every floor. Most comfortable bed EVER! Furniture should be updated more modern. Had a plumbing issue, which was resolved in a timely manner. Would recommend to stay here.

Just a terrific Thanksgiving meal here!
They served creamy burrata with bacon for the first course and it had a Flavor that I haven’t had before……. Mmmmmm…. Damn good

The 2nd course I had was the Roasted butternut squash “ soup” … it was slightly thick, so not really a soup, but had a traditional flavor of butternut with a hint of the truffle which did not interfere with the flavor at all…. Another ……. Mmmmm good!

The 3rd course I chose was the
Cranberry and
Orange Glazed Turkey Breast and Apricot Mustard Spiral Ham (was so delicious) which was served with a small portion of stuffing (not enough for me), but was exquisite! The turkey was great and had about 1 1/2 cup’s of mashed potatoes under it and was very flavorful.
And also included, Mac and cheese, which was ok, and a slice of a sweet potato, that was not nearly enough, but was delicious.

I’d also recommend a Bloody Mary which they home prepare (no bottle pre-mix stuff, I asked) with your meal because 3 olives and a lime and a lemon was made perfectly!

The dessert was a little bit of everything, apple pie (small portion, like 3 tablespoons) and 2 cookies, and a “smmigen” of pumpkin pie

The service could not be better!

The only reason that a 5 Star review was not in order for here is because they sat myself and my mom in the bar area instead of the main restaurant
(I guess in anticipation of a large # of guests for Thanksgiving) But, the main part of the restaurant was at 70% capacity) and I would rather have been in restaurant area.
All in All…. Walk in the front door and it’s the first door on the right!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon nigh at The Garden City Hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the valet, the front desk upgraded us for a very reasonable price and the hotel restaurant was even able to accommodate my gluten allergy. The room that we were upgraded to was AMAZINGGGGGG! We had a full balcony, a massive living room, a beautiful dinning room with a full sized kitchenette/ bar section. My husband and I had a blast! I did have a minor issue with my dinner but Brittany Schmidt the Food and Beverage Manager made sure that my husband and I were given a complimentary breakfast. Brittany also personally delivered special desserts to the room which made our night even more special. My husband and I cannot wait to return to the Garden City Hotel in the future for another visit. Maybe even for our anniversary.

Ivelie makes the best Manhattan in New York! I grew up here, live in Manhattan and I am telling you this is one of the best! Definitely stop by.

Our stay was excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was professional and helpful.
We hosted our son and daughter in law’s post wedding brunch here as well. The planning was easy and fun thanks to Paul. The brunch exceeded our expectations with great food, wonderful staff, and a very beautiful room.

Friday night I was in the rose room downstairs I have the female serve I think her name was Ively I don't really know how to spell her name, she was truly amazing, I receive a phenomenal service, she did an amazing job in the rose room I will definitely come back because of her hopefully I get her as my waiter again.

Lovely accommodations. I was there for a wedding so I didn't use the facilities but was very pleased with the room. Very large, enough light, lots of hot water. Just what I needed.

Ehhh. 600 a nite hard bed no coffee in room. No mini bar. Room service starts late and ends early. Probably better as a wedding venue then a get away.

I've stayed at the hotel and dined there many many times since I was a young girl. There's a nostalgic feeling that draws me there from time to time. From the wonderful staff, to the excellent food & service, the Garden City Hotel remains a favorite place of mine to visit now and again. Many places have had to make changes in order to survive in this pandemic; the hotel & restaurant included. However, I don't hold that against them. To the staff, thank you for always displaying the upmost professionalism and for going above & beyond to deliver the best experience for your guests.

I personally have not stayed at the hotel. I was there to drop something at the front desk. On this occasion it was a beautiful summer evening. The grounds looked immaculate. There was music, nice furniture on lawn very cool vibe. I would have loved to have a cocktail on my visit.
