The Grey Dog reviews
18Amazing place…. Frendly staff and great food. We already had twice a breakfast this week, I love interior and love the way they treated us. Thank you guys!
Average… and could have been better. The service was okay, but there was a good environment. I had ordered a beer and it had came lukewarm and not cold. The chicken in one of the sandwiches was extremely dry and was inedible. The Philly cheesesteak wrap had no sauce on it, dry, and was hard to swallow. Overall the food was not very good and I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you’re desperate, there are plenty of other options.
This place is adorable and the food was very fresh and tasteful. If you’re looking for something healthy and yummy give this place a try. And the staff is very friendly
Always good good here, today’s was especially the best breakfast I’ve had in a while, and at first was thankful they have table service now, but you’re not going to bring the food out before drip coffee and pretend like that’s normal - which means they think it’s fine. No apology, and then the coffee came with a side of cream that was impractical to pour and didn’t have a spoon. The second we put our forks down a server had a machine in our face to pay, and we obviously said no because we hadn’t even hardly had a chance to drink the coffee that come so late. Idk, I’d rather have worse food with like basics of service in place personally.
Complete waste of time. They said it would be 10-15 minutes to sit us, but it never happened. They moved us twice from where we were standing to wait because it was inconvenient for them until we were waiting in the 30 degree weather. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. Maybe this was because we wanted to sit inside where it was warm and not in there outside seating where they have barely functional heat lamps. Really the only thing the outside area protects from us the wind, so you will still have to bundle up to eat outside. We wound up leaving when our 15 minutes passed and we asked how much longer, and they replied "I don't know". I'm glad there are still plenty of places around, like the ones across the street, that know how to run a restaurant.
Came here for quick drinks after work with a friend and snagged the happy hour special barely. I think the food was drinks are good. The grilled cheese sliders are especially cute.
"Home fries" were obviously frozen steak fries cut up into chunks. After I saw a review somewhere where somebody raved about the home fries, I had expected more. Also the first coffee I got had a distinctly weird taste to it that I could not identify. I advised the waiter who brought me a new coffee. He came back a little while later and said that some of the staff had tasted of the coffee and indeed there was something weird about it. This brunch was not cheap and I felt like it was a total waste of money.
Loved their Chicken and Waffles, not so much the Village Pancakes with Strawberries. I thought the strawberries would be served fresh, but they were mixed into the batter, which made them a bit soggy.
I’ve been here many times before and I always love the service and ambiance. However today I’m disappointed, I ordered an avocado with my eggs over hard and they came over easy literally half of toast is covered in egg yolk. Due to the restaurant being busy It made no sense to remake my food again since I lost my appetite! Then they bring me eggs remade 10 minutes after. Honestly don’t come here for brunch they are to busy pay you no attention. I just wanted to run out of there which I did. Very disappointed!
Broad menu but the chicken sandwich was not as juicy or crispy as it should have been. The spicy Caesar was excellent. Nice outdoor spots in the sunshine. Average brunch place.
Warm, wooden diner serving familiar classics with friendly staff. The decor is charming, a great place to meet for breakfast. We ordered the pancakes and an egg croissant. Only four stars because the food was a bit plain, even unsalted, and we felt it didn’t quite live up to the look of the place.
Great service and friendly staff, unfortunately dry chicken in the club sandwich. Excellent fries and a delicious chai latte but left half the sandwich uneaten.
Came in for a beer, ended up staying for another couple and some cocktails as it was happy hour. We waited 20 minutes for our first drinks, but the server apologised and we got them free, so no problems.
We loved this place. We were there late on a Friday morning and it wasn’t very busy. They sat us immediately. The atmosphere was chill. The food was really good with some unique twists. The portions were big. I LOVED the French toast that came with my breakfast. Our server was great. Very friendly and attentive. This place looks like it would be fun at night too.
The place inside is cute. The drinks (bloody Mary and Royale) were okeish. The two impossible burgers were not so impressive.
Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day. Soft, fluffy pancakes dressed in melted butter and a light coating of maple syrup is the way to my heart. The French toast is phenomenal. It's a thick toast that I could not get enough of! Had we not been pressed for time, I would have ordered another plate. We had mimosas, iced matcha latte, blta sandwich, and some little nuggets. The dressing on those nuggets was so savory and sweet (it's like a balsamic glaze) amazing recommendation to try as an appetizer. Looking forward to return to NY and eat there again
First time here today. Had the french toast with a side of scrambled eggs. Wait staff very good and very accommodating. Was able to substitute maple syrup instead of strawberry syrup no problem. Prices very reasonable. And the meal was delicious.
The Grey Dog was one of my FAVORITE places we ate at in NYC! We went there for breakfast/brunch, and every single one of us got the Grey dog Breakfast. It comes with eggs, pancakes/french toast, home fries (the best part), and bacon/sausage. It was a lot of food but not too much you couldn't finish it. We even got to set outside and it was in a nice area that didn't have a terrible odor. The staff were excellent. They were attentive, nice, and fast. This place is one of my all time favorite places to eat, for sure!
