The Heckscher Museum of Art reviews
16Lovely place to visit and see creative work.saw the 12/22 exhibit of local LI artists.excellent pices and as a bonus many of the creators were there to talk about their methods.interactive exhibits for the kids too.can't wait for the building to be refinished.afterwards a nice walk in the park.
This was a great experience and just the building one is beautiful. The museum might be on the smaller side but it's filled up very thoughtfully and there was a very broad range of works to see. A nice little afternoon trip after lunch in town. It doesn't take your whole day up to experience either. The staff are also very pleasant.
A great small museum. It is only about 4 rooms of art, but person to pop in for an hour or so. Only $5 recommended donation so its cheap enough to get in and see the art.
Workers are polite and friendly. Its a one floor museum that you can pass the time for about 45 minutes for, observing the paintings.it’s free for admission but I recommend donating a few dollars upon entrance.
Went to fair.had a great time.alot of activities for kids.went into museum, grandson enjoyed himself.named a star and colored a picture of sculpture.
This is a cute little establishment located in an absolutely gorgeous Park in Huntington. It consisted of about four rooms of art and was something that you could do in 45 minutes to an hour easily. Some of the art was very beautiful and some little strange but hey that's art. It was open and bright and a nice little thing to do. It wasn't really a children's museum but they did have some activities for kids and I would consider taking your children there if they are learning about anything to do with some of the pieces. Right now there is a whole room full of Asian influences art which I might take my children to when we discuss the continent of Asia. The surrounding Park is so nice. Parking is a hassle but I would assume that it would be much easier on a weekday. All in all worth the trip.
To visit the Heckscher its highly recommended to place a reservation ahead of time online. The museum, even though it's small in size, is full of art with two exhibitions running simultaneously. When I visited, I saw the Moonstruck and Global Asias exhibit. The staff are friendly and the environment is very calm and quiet. Not many people are in the museum during the days, so it's pretty much empty (unless there's an event happening). I loved the collection of artwork the curators put together. It was such an immersing and educating exhibit.
The Hecksher was an unexpected surprise, on a rather dreary, rainy day. Definitely going back.
A small museum with changing exhibits, just perfect for Sunday afternoon. The Richard Mayhew exhibit was beautiful
A small art museum but has enough inspiring and attractive art works! It's very well organized during this pandemic. We visited the exhibition of Long Island high school students! A lot of surprise, how creative the youngsters are!
It's family friendly even for small kids, since it's relatively small. What's more, the museum is surrounded by a beautiful, cozy park, best for children!
Very nice but extremely small. Expensive compared to size. If you are planning on going, I suggest go to your local library and borrow the museum pass.
One of Long Island's greatest cultural treasures - a small but vibrant artistic haven that wonderfully complements the natural beauty of Hecksher Park.
Excellent. Wonderful exhibit of Long Island Art and Artists until March 15. Worth the trip
Great little museum right in town. They rotate the exhibit collections often so it's worth coming back to check out what's new. I appreciate their Emerging Artist series to get exposure to new and up coming artists and highlighting local and community artists. Collections are well curated with accompanying stories and background.
Love this museum and I do feel such prestigious feelings that we do have awesome place to visit to near NYC. I highly recommend to join and support this great cultural arena in Long Island.
The mood was set at night with ALL the holiday lights in the park. Especially, the water casending tree lights right in front of the entrance! Upon going into this special MUSEUM you are treated to local artist's works! Plus the information was LARGE enough that NO reading glasses were needed!
