Been on a waiting list for months.or not? Multiple attempts to contact anyone that might work there. I've attempted contact via email- they tell me to text. I text-and they asked me a question and never texted me back after my response. Another attempt to reach out after waiting a month (in the event they were busy and overwhelmed) and they say to text another number. I text that line-and still no response.
What is the point of the runaround? Is it too much to ask to speak to someone? What is it worth giving people the 'cold shoulder' instead of communicating like an adult? If you can't/won't take nor help disabled applicants in NYC, then whom do you accept? Perhaps it's my fault that I cannot incur enough medical treatment to pay your whole entire rent for you, enough for you to genuinely ignore every single outreach, when all I'm seeking is help for a loved one that you declared on your website to make possible for those whom cannot on their own.

The Humane Society of New York is not very "humane", it's hard to get in to see a Vet, it's hard to get someone on the phone and if you do, your needs aren't met, for whatever reason, they always seem to have an excuse, maybe they need to expand they need a bigger facility, there's too much need!

In order to bring your.fur baby to the Humane society you need to have an appointment.
In order to make an appointment you need to put a deposit.
I preferred not to make the deposit over the phone and asked if I can make appt in person, I was advised that I can and was told I can go any day during business hours.
I went on a Saturday first thing in the morning and was turned away by an employee because apparently there is no one there to make appointments on the weekend and told me that even if I went during the week it wasn't guaranteed anyone who can make an appointment will be there.
It would have been nice to be given proper information prior to me taking a drive and wasting my time.

The care is excellent and the prices very reasonable, however it takes awhile to get an appointment for your fur baby. They provided my pet medication in tablet form which needed to be cut in 1/4th. Problem is that the pill is so small that a pill cutter can not be used. Why did they not cut it for me or prescribe something more manageable. In short, I paid for medication that my cat, Marshall cannot use. I am frustrated even went to a local pharmacy and they agreed with me, why did they not suggest a compound option since pets requirements are specific and cutting pills is not exact dosage.

I recently had my 8 month old puppy Winter spayed and chipped at the HSNY. I had to schedule this four months in advance but it was well worth the wait. The Dr.did an amazing job and Winter's incision site looked terrific after only about a week post procedure. The staff was pleasant and I met some really nice pet parents during check-in and check-out. I thought I was going to be late to pick up Winter due to the President's visit and I was so worried and upset but the staff was so pleasant and understanding. I would visit this hospital for all of Winter's needs. They exceeded my expectations. Thank you, HSNY.

Overall I would not know I only called looking for emergency removals of lumps and bumps as cyst and tumors for my pitbull and the prices Are reasonable to somewhat expensive for Emergencies but right I'm pretty sure that they're very nice and clean and very polite in the inside and maybe they are helpful for some people but for myself I was. Referred to low cost veterinarian. So to me they are expensive to somewhat expensive.

PLEASE READ THIS HONEST REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT HERE. Sadly I used to really like this place. It was my go to no matter what. Now I’ve heard nothing but horrible things. Someone who works there recently told me they mistreat the animals on occasions. This place was so much better before the 2020 pandemic. It’s over now and they should go back to the way they were. They’ve hired kids who barely even speak English to come and get the animals and we can’t get a direct one on one with the doctors and majority of the best doctors there have left. And people have so many questions and there’s no one to give answers. How do we know shots are being given and procedures are being done? ! This place sadly needs to be shut down. There are way more honest veterinary clinics out there. Might cost a bit more but worth it if you love your pet. This place is just untrustworthy and dishonest at this point.

I’ve called on three separate occasions regarding adoption. I never get through to anyone and just hear the automated message saying to complete the application and you may or may not hear back. We aren’t even able to stop by and see these animals up for adoption. Why is that? You’d think that they’d be more eager to get these animals a loving and caring home but I guess not. Do better and let the animals have a better chance at getting the loving home they deserve.

You’re not letting animals get adopted because there is something nefarious going on. Perhaps testing on them in exchange for money? Let them go free or you’ll be going to jail.

Made the appointement via txt a lil over a month ago. We got there super early.it was raining & I didn't want the risk of missing the appointment. At first we couldn't find the entrance because it is under construction. Found out that before this construction, people & their pets would have to wait outside to be seen by the vet. It seems that donations/funds were allocated to build/create a lobby where people can sit & wait with their pets. We were seated in a make shift lobby with a couple of chairs spaced out. There's a nice security guard that will provide you with a mask & hand you a clipboard with information to be filled out. The vet came out at our appointed time. He asked a few questions & off he went with my fur baby in tow. The one thing I was not too happy about, was that I was not allowed to go in with her. The parent of a patient there said that this became the norm because of the pandemic. I get it, but still. The wellness check went well & my fur baby was given her annual vaccines. The price of the visit is pretty comfortable @ $50 for weekend visit (that's the appt. I made) or $45 for during the week. Also the vaccine prices were pretty reasonable too! A young man came out to explain the details of the bill: Bordatella was $20 & Lepto $25. I asked for a blood panel & it was $90 compared to one done awhile back that was $180 from a private vet! She was also given Heartguard Plus. I paid for the whole year & got a $15 rebate. One thing that I asked for but they didn't have was Bravecto. But I'm ok with that. All in all a very good experience & will visit again. Hopefully, to get her teeth cleaned, which right now my fur baby doesn't seem to need for now as per the vet.

I've adopted my beautiful black and white baby girl, Luna and she made my life so happy.
I appreciate that they trusted me and let me take good care of her.
I believe her brother cat, Lucky stayed at Humane Society and became a very popular and famous care taker working cat and helped a lot of people in hospitals.

I had been taking my dogs to the clinic since 2015, however post-Covid it has been impossible to get an appointment despite following their instructions. I have tried texting and leaving a clear voicemail with all the requested information and never hear back from anyone. I've also been on the dental 'wait list' for for a year with zero follow-up. Seems to me they are prioritizing routine spay/neuter & vaccine appointments and dismissing long-term customers.

I went here to get bloodwork for my dog. He was given a dental appointment for 3 weeks later but I was called today and told the appointment had to be pushed back 5 weeks because of short staffing. They offered to let me have more bloodwork done for no cost, and the cost of his extraction was very affordable. Around $400. The neutering cost is more than some places in the city so you should go elsewhere for that. But for bloodwork, dental and urine samples, they're affordable. I'll amend my review for good or bad after the surgery. But so far, I like this place. I wish they had a location in Brooklyn.

My cat Lulu has a very bad ear infection. She still has the ear infection but it is much more manageable.
