The L Salon, New Paltz NY

The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the salon is beautiful and clean. I come from out of town to get a haircut from Livi. She’s the best! Highly recommend.

Amazing experience right from the get-go! Calling to schedule was a breeze, everyone was so sweet and had great energy. The salon has an amazing vibe, and everyone was so friendly I loved it. Kiley is literally amazing, heard me out about what I was aiming for, what my hair concerns have been, and went with it when I said “I’m open to whatever you think! ” (I was up for short or keeping my hair long- we went short!) I’ll definitely be returning, and definitely to Kiley! I had a phenomenal experience here, and I couldn’t be happier with the life changing cut I got. My hair feels SO much better (and so do I!) :) I’m in love my new cut and can’t wait to see what Kiley does in my future visits:) Thank you Kiley, and everyone I met at The L Salon for such a wonderful experience! ️

The staff at the L Salon were amazing! I booked on site appointments for hair and make up for myself (bride) my sister, and make up for my mom and mother in law. We all loved how we looked. I booked the appointments over emails, and the staff was really helpful when I needed to move the appointment 30 minutes earlier. The salon is clean and well decorated. The staff are friendly, professional, and talented. If I lived in the area I would go back here for haircuts. I do recommend them for bridal services though!

Madison is my & my child’s stylist. We just love her. She is amazing. The salon itself is beautiful. Everyone that works at the salon is truly fabulous. The great vibes there from everyone.

I go here about every 6 monthes for cut/ highlights by Kiley. He is the best stylist, especially for thick haired girls. I always get tons of compliments. The salon itself is really nicely designed and everyone is super friendly. It's a good time.

Salon experience was amazing from start to end! All of the stylist were so kind. Maddy my stylist especially went above beyond my expectations. This was, without a doubt, the best salon experience I've had in my life. I wanted to try out a new style, but I had some hair issues making my hair a little unique (I had significant hair loss from an accident). I also have coarse, curly hair, which not every stylist can work with. I did some serious research before deciding to book in New Paltz with Lauren, and I am SO glad I did.

Lauren was meticulous, thoughtful, and I felt so comfortable with my hair in her hands. The entire staff is very dedicated and participate in a lot of ongoing education, and it shows. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the stylists or services here. I've had a lot of lackluster cuts over the years, and this is one of the first times I've left a salon feeling beautiful. Thank you so much to the whole staff!

The owner, Lauren, went above and beyond to make sure my daughter loved her hair! She did to most amazing corrective color, cut and style!
It was extremely evident, that her heart was in her craft, and her client's happiness is a top priority!

First time cutting my hair at The L Salon. Had great experience with Madison who cut my hair exactly how I asked of her. She’s very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return and recommend.

Amazing job on my hair by Alaina. She had a big job too…way overdue for a color and cut. She spent time listening to what I wanted, she very knowledgeably gave her opinion and matched colors and highlights. She took her time and it came out beautifully. Highly recommend! Thanks Alaina!

Ok Lauren the owner so kindly reached me after she saw this review. I was incredibly impressed that she had no defensiveness about the bad haircut I had received and simply offered me a free cut that she herself would do. I took her up on it and the cut was fabulous! I was also impressed that she didn't do it to get the review changed, she just wanted to offer the right thing. So I felt it was important to change and update this. I'll be back!

THE OLD REVIEW:

This is a hard review to write because I used to like this place so much. I liked the vibe, the music and the people. Even their receptionist Autumn is cool. I came for a long time to get rockin eyebrow care and facials from Asher though now she has left. One day recently I decided to come try a haircut.

I'm so sorry to say that it one of the worst cuts ever. Nicole was very nice but asked almost no questions about what i wanted beforehand. I said a pixie cut, but soft and feminine in the back, not too short, just a lot of thinning of my super thick hair. She nodded and just jumped in. I've been asked more questions at a $20 Supercuts!

She never asked how short to go, or how full, or even considered that since it would be our first time, maybe she should go easy and take off more later if needed. She just lopped everything off! Later when she saw me getting distressed she asked whether it was too much, as if there was anything she could do by then.

It's not a flattering cut at ALL, the sides are way too tight and the back looks like it's from a barber. It's not like any cut I've ever received.

I didn't want start crying at the salon so I made the best of it. But when I got home and saw how unflattering it was I was upset. Especially for $62! (Plus tip, yes I tipped even in my upset, but it honestly wasn't deserved)

What irked me the most was that for that price, the stylist should have investigated what I wanted especially for a first time! She did ask me a couple perfunctory questions while she styled the hair of the girl before me because she was running late. I've had stylists ask me 15 minutes of questions the first time and then go careful and easy till we get it right. I deserved better.

Anyone deserves a stylist to converse with you fully before a first time cut. I don't know whether she was just tired or couldn't be bothered. So buyer beware!

I never write reviews, but I just needed to let everyone know how amazing this salon is! I got my haircut by Livi, and then a week later we split-dyed my hair. I am SO happy with the results. I loved collaborating with Livi and the team to get the results I was looking for. Such an incredible experience and I could not be happier.

This salon is awesome! I followed Killey there bc we love him. The salon is very professional, girls are so nice and helpful. They have a great supply of products to buy. It’s a really great place!
