The Lucerne Hotel reviews
13What should be a comfortable, convenient hotel is marred by unprofessional and indifferent, one might even say incompetent front desk staff. Rooms are OK, if a little worn. They are clean and well appointed. Sadly, the wifi is insufficient for even causal phone or PC use. Definitely not up to speeds compatible with a work situation. Nice Matin, the restaurant next door is convenient, if over priced and also staffed with clueless and brusk management. If you try to use the TravelZoo deal which includes "Signature amenity: All guests receive 15% off at the hotel's on-site French restaurant, Nice Matin (once per stay) ", be prepared to argue with the restaurant AND hotel staff to get them to honor it. Slight, nervous, bespectacled front desk commandant threw up his hands and told me to contact Travelzoo while our guests waited in the restaurant. So embarrassingly rude and for what? You CAN.find good service in NYC. Just not here, IMO.
Great Service, Friendly Staff, Beautiful Room, Elegant but comfortable Lobby, Business Center came in very handy, Walking Distance to Everything FUN & Wonderful! Snow kept us from Central Park West But no worries. We found something great to fill our time.
Great location (5 minutes from the Beacon Theater) and very comfortable. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.
Best hotel experience since the pandemic started. Early check-in graciously provided, the most friendly and old-school-in-the-best-way skilled staff at the front desk, and an upgrade to a suite provided without asking and with a minimum of fuss. I just adored this gem of a hotel. Also, location! Daily Provisions down the block is a must visit (fresh crullers for breakfast- trust me on this), and order a “magic” from bluestone coffee up the street. Their own French restaurant, Nice Matin, is also superb. Central Park 3 minutes walk east. Zabar, an absolute essence of New York, also 3 minutes walk west.
Loved this sweet hotel! Clean and extremely comfortable rooms. Great service. Great location. Very quiet area with lots of fun restaurants nearby. We had a double but room was big by New York standards. We’ll definitely be back.
Outstanding room. Family of four for 4 days in the corner king suite which was a large one bedroom (they gave us a very comfortable roll away bed). Upon arrival they gave us an option for 2 queen room. The room was nicely decorated, the windows kept the noise out, and daily housekeeping. The lobby restaurant offers a solid breakfast menu. If I had one complaint I wish they had USB charging stations in the lamps, beds and desk.
Nice hotel in the upper west side. Staff is very friendly and the renovation is rally nice. Stayed in a single queen bed room. Small but that's normal for NYC hotels. Room faced the interior courtyard (of a sorts) making it very quiet. I was only in the room at night so didn't care about a view. Quiet is much more important.
We stayed here in October 2021 for two nights. Hotel location was our primary reason for staying here however we were impressed throughout our stay by the service provided by Lucerne’s staff. Our room was the standard queen room, more than adequate for the average NYC room. We have paid much more for smaller accommodations in the past. Our room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, and our ac unit was stubborn but addressed immediately when we brought to staff attention. The neighborhood is safe and close to many upper west side attractions. We walked everywhere both day and nighttime and never felt unsafe. The amazing staff even made a big deal about our anniversary. I would recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a safe and comfortable place to stay while in NYC. Also, although we did not eat at the Nice Matin restaurant, we glazed at the plates at the lucky ones who did. Great pizza/pasta just across the street at Coppola’s too!
My experience about the lucerne Hotel was very much good. Staff, commodity and food was very good liked it
We stayed here a couple years ago and I heard that it's now used to assist and support homeless people. First of all, five stars as a hotel secondly 10 stars as a place willing to support humanity.
Working at this location as Security.
Currently due to Pandemic the population is a mix of Homeless clients (but they're all just people down on life not vagrants or micro) and permanent residents/tenants.
Very clean very quiet.
Do not be turned off by it being used to shelter the less fortunate.
Stayed once, the room is old, stained, dirty and dark, did not enjoy our night. One of the restaurant staff is extremely rudest offensive, he scared my baby girl.
My husband and I stayed at the Lucerne for 3 nights due to a business event. As others have said, the location is great! The service is also great! I am giving it 2 stars however due to other aspects of our stay that were not to our standards. There is no coffee or kettle in the room (which would not be a big deal if one did not have to leave the property to get coffee - I mean they could at least have it somewhere in the building), which makes the morning kind of rough if you are like me and need that extra jump start before heading out in public:) Additionally, as the rooms are very small, it's kind of musty with the wall aircon unit. It feels like a Holiday Inn in 1975 in that regard. Our mattress was hard and lumpy, so we had very little sleep. As said, the staff are very nice, but in my opinion significant investment in this property is needed to bring it up to today's standards and the price they charge. Finally, with a lack of so many amenities and the price charged for the room, having one bottle of water in the room for guests at a charge of $6.75 for the bottle is quite ridiculous.
