The Met Cloisters reviews
12Interesting artwork from medieval era, including a lot of architectural elements. Perfect outing for a couple of hours, beautiful view of the river, and a short walk to the business area where you can grab some food. Free parking is a plus!
My daughter and I visited for her 18th birthday coming from South Texas. The museum was great but a couple girls from the ticket booth were very rude. I had a New York pass that wouldn’t scan. Instead of trying to help me they just kept telling me my tickets didn’t work. They were both talking to me like I was stupid. I feel they need to be retrained on their position to better help their guests correctly and not just look for the easy way out and say your ticket doesn’t work. After arguing for 5-10 minutes they finally tried to scan my ticket, which worked. I was very disappointed in their service. But the rest of their staff were great! Just a few bad apples.
A beautiful retreat located a short hop from midtown Manhattan. Recreated medieval architecture with a treasure trove of exhibits that transports you to the middle ages. Gorgeous Hudson River vistas from the terraces. Don't enter without paying just because you can. Cough up a few bucks (at least) to help pay for upkeep and maintenance along with new exhibits.
A beautifully curated collection focused on the Medieval era. Dark in some rooms. Check if the Cafe is open: we went on a gorgeous day in the low 70s and though they're supposed to open in October, they weren't. They should post on the website if it's closed, as there are no food choices if you're hungry.
Though it's a little bit away from downtown, this museum is comparable or even better than some famous museums on Manhattan
Such a beautiful hidden gem in the park. It has medieval and religious art and architecture. We enjoyed downloading the Bloomberg app to guide along with audio content.
One of the best hidden gems in Manhattan. A beautiful example of classic Cloister-style. Amazing medieval art, truly one-of-a-kind. Well-positioned on top of a hill with great views of the Hudson River.
Loved this place. An interesting place to see some history. Plus, if you buy a ticket here, the Met museum is included. Well worth it.
Throughly love this branch of The Met. The museum specializing in European medieval art and architecture, with a focus on the Romanesque and Gothic periods.
It is worth the hike.
Beautiful museum, you could spend a whole day here easily. Very enjoyable atmosphere, will definitely return.
It was great to see this again. The last time I was here had to be about 30 yrs ago. So much history under one roof. It was a very educational experience.
One woman did try proselytizing to us and followed us around the muesum for a bit. But other than that it is a well maintained museum. Very clean, beautiful space.
