The worst could not get a honest answer as to why they billed two different insurances for the same date care that was pre approved and paid now I have a secondary bill with another co payment does not make sense

Incredibly aggressive billing practices. Even when questioning or disputing a bill, they text, message, mail, robocall over and over again hunting down a 30 dollar copay. After a short (and I mean short) period, if you haven't paid (and they don't respond to a billing question), they then remove the bill from the MyChart portal so you can't pay it except through a collections agency. Thankfully we are in NYC which has better hospital systems that treat patients respectfully. Definitely no need to go somewhere that double bills you without warning or explanation and that aggressively pursues you from day one with a barrage of harassing messages, and then makes it harder to pay.

Absolute disgrace - deliberately structured so you as a patient have to chase multiple departments at all times. Avoid using them if possible.

Nightmare! I spent an hour getting transferred and hung up on over and over just trying to get a paper statement sent to my house! I was told outright that it’s not possible! The last person I spoke to finally got it done literally in 5 seconds! So inconsistent for no reason!

This is by far the WORST system to pay a bill. You have to call each individual Mount Sinai Hospital to find out what they are charging you for. Just going to wait for it to be sent to collections, and pay a fraction of what is owed.

They were informed what insurance to bill. They billed the wrong insurance company. They don't get through on phone. They sent bill to collections agency. Will try to visit in person.

Be very aware of what you are paying for. I have been overcharged on the "estimate" I was required to pay before a procedure on 2 occasions. I am due a refund of over $1000. I was never sent a bill so I only knew I was due money because I thought to follow up. It has been several months and I am still fighting to get it. It seems like this is a fraudulent practice of overcharging.

Trying to bill me 405 dollars out of nowhere through email when I have never visited the hospital in my life. Also the billing portal doesnt even have a bill of what operations I had there (spoiler: none)

Emergency room visit.
(a) didn't send the medical bill to our address
(b) didn't go thru insurance

Instead, they send it directly to the collection agency.

Wish they had an option for zero stars. They are trying to send me a bill from an ER visit over 2 years ago. My old insurance informed me that Mount Sinai submitted the claim incorrectly and were asked to resubmit but never did UNTIL NOW. I no longer have the same insurance so I don’t have the medical HSA card to cover the bill. I explained that I had the means then, but because of their screw up I am being punished. Mount Sinai could care less. Woman on the phone told me I was “angry” for no reason and could call back when I was going to pay. And hung up. I think dying would be better than using their services for care. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Bunch of scammers, tried to charge me $2500 for a throat swab and claim it as an emergency service.

Was involved in a no fault accident as a passenger in in Uber and was sent to Mount Sinai. An x ray/scan and a ibruprofen was $13,000…. So obviously I’m not gonna pay correct? Cause The no fault insurance pays for me. NOPE! They keep contacting me even after I sent both car insurance companies info and contact. I then get a collections letter from them, I later call and tell them the situation and they said everything is fixed and not to worry! So I call a week later and say yes everything is correct and still in process! 2 months later I get another collections letter saying that the debt is validated? Like what? IN NO WAY shape or from i I am responsible for anything when TWO PARTIES OFFERED TO PAY FOR IT

The place is just bad. My Dad was diagnosed with cancer and for a moment they helped us. But when the bills started to come at our house, we saw that they were either already paid up or that they were wrong in general. When I went to the department, they showed me bills that they never came to my house with crazy amounts of money that my family needed to pay. They gave me the codes and when I was going online or call the phone number provided, these bills where never existed. One of the heads of the billing department actually recommend me to take my dad to another hospital to get his treatment done since we can't pay all the bills together. She actually recommend me to take him to the Elmhurst hospital to get his treatment done during a pandemic! I felt really bad as a teenager in college, trying to help my dad get his treatment in a good hospital. After that I stopped going there and I told my family the situation. They said that we can do this ourselves and we don't need them. If you have a problem go straight to the cashier in the hospital or the people in the reception, they will actually help you and treat you with the respect that you deserve!

The billing dept here is terrible! You can NEVER get in contact with anyone, but you will consistently receive texts, emails, and paper statements for balances owed. It's insane. The way they bill Mount Sinai doctors is also shady and terrible. I went to TWO doctors, both of which stated they accepted my insurance, and were in network just for me to receive denied claims from both. When I spoke with my insurance company, they confirmed the doctors were in network but the way the office billed was under a different tax id so it wasnt in network. Thats CRAZY considering I seen an in network doctor. Why would you bill my insurance with an out of network tax id? Something has to be done with these people. I refuse to pay $900 for doctors that ACCEPT my insurance.

I feel like I’m being hustled. I’ve gotten 4 different bills for an in network appointment. Glad I removed my stitches myself after my first appointment to avoid 4 more bills. Will NEVER GO BACK

I second the persons review about the billing department, NOT RETURNING CALLS, Billing incorrectly, fixing there mistakes and sending it to collections. They tried the same thing on us. SCAM ARTISTS!

My husband is on Medicare. Should have only been billed a copay for a Zoom visit with his neurologist. They completely ignored the medical info which was confirmed 2 times before the appointment. I was sent sent a few bills for the full price, all the while I was calling the billing department. There was no answer and I left a message. I never received a return phone call. I sent the billing dept a copy of the bill along with a copy of the insurance card. I also spoke to the Neurologist office after receiving the bills and gave them the insurance information. Now I've received a collection notice.

This department keeps sending me bills for balances, I have already paid off and never picks up the phone when i call to have this issue rectified. I may end up changing service providers because this is ridiculous.
