The New York Renaissance Faire reviews
19Traffic was a disaster. Two hour wait to get in and two hours to get out. Long lines for food and huge crowds everywhere. Won’t be returning
The food is very disappointing, and tasted reheated frozen. The shows are boring. This is disappointing. The only fun thing about it is the costumes.
The NY Renaissance Faire used to be such a lovely and jovial day. My husband and I fondly remember our many trips there each fall. Today was not a day we will remember fondly. The parking and traffic situation is unbearable and so disorganized. Once we were in the vicinity of the Faire, it took over and hour of a very slow moving line of cars to get to the parking lot. Leaving the Faire was even worse. We had to sit in the car in the lot for two hours before the line of cars waiting to exit the parking lot were able to move at all! This never ever used to be the case at this place! The tickets are more expensive, the food lines are super long, and the food being served is grossly overpriced. The ironically named “peasant gyro” has was $18! We love watching people dress up and we love the performers there. However, the organizer of this entire event needs to figure out a day to make this day more enjoyable for everyone. Cap the amount of people allowed to buy tickets and lower your gosh darn prices! We decided we aren’t returning next year and this is a very sad result.
Omg I never was into places like this but I swear I had the best time of my life. Will definitely be going back again with the family
A beautiful place, but the problem is that it is crowded outside before parking. Keep in mind that it is normal to get stuck in the parking crowd for an hour and a half or more. Tickets are 42 for adults and 20 for children.
Amazing place filled with fun at every turn. Shopping food and entertainment. I love the dedication people have with getting dressed up playing their part 100 percent. Great family fun.
My family and I love going to the RenFaire! We have been going there for almost a decade now to enjoy all that the Faire has to offer. With the Queen's entrance into the Faire at 10 am and all the shows, shops, and food, you can easily get immersed in the wonder and amazement of the Faire until 7 pm. Which would surely have you visiting again and again. Huzzah!
Too crowded, too expansive. They are getting too many people in and lines for everything are insane.
PARKING IS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS! We waited TWO HOURS just to get IN to the fair. Terrible planning for parking and is overly crowded. At 42$ per ticket it’s not worth spending half of your day sitting in the car to get in and out.
Come ever year for the past five years for pirate weekend and are never disappointed, until this year. Spent a minimum of 45min-1hour in every line we sat in. Went to get ice cream around 5pm and it looks them 1hr 25minutes to take care of 15 people before I had a chance to go. There was also I couple really rude bartenders yelling about one drink per person (which was not the rule in previous years). Tried to enjoy some of the awesome acts they had, but every act was impossible to hear because of the amount of noise from other acts, the past few years people had microphones but this year they didn't seem to. Most disappointing thing is they took the honored tradition of the Kissing Bridge and changed it. Hope things get better next year, or we will have to find another faire to go to.
It kills me to give this 3 stars. I’ve been coming to the Faire since I’m a kid. This year it was completely oversold. Lines and shows were out of control.
That said, the improvements they have made in the past few years are really awesome. It feels like they’ve updated it really nicely.
The ren faire was fun but Jesus Christ they have no idea how to work traffic. There was basically zero signage and the whole thing seemed so poorly planned. We waited 2 hours to get 2 miles to the parking lot then were forced to wait half an hour while they blocked the only road to let out the other parking lot. We spent about twice the time waiting to get in and out of the venue than we were able to spend at the actual faire. It really ruined the whole day.
I've been to the fair many times but today was an unacceptable experience. The traffic getting into the fair was horrendous and the parking was as well. There was not enough handicapped parking at all and parking took forever in a far away lot. The fairgrounds were EXTREMELY overcrowded. You could hardly enjoy shopping or the shows because you were unable to move in every area and people were standing in front of you at the shows due to lack of seating. The food lines were OUTRAGEOUS. We waited AN HOUR on a line for food. There was no point getting off the line because they were ALL like that. We're currently sitting in traffic trying to leave the parking lot of the fair. We've been here well over an hour and have moved maybe 100 feet. I have never experienced anything so poorly organized in my life.
We came here three years ago and had a really great time. Not so much this year. It took us over two hours to drive the last three miles to the parking lot and it took us just as long to leave the parking lot. We spent a ton of money to sit in a car for almost five hours. Never coming back.
This place is absolutely garbage. The performers talk more than actually perfor. People in charge of parking and traffic management are absolute morons. I hope the day never comes that I be stupid enough to visit again.
The fair is unbelievably disorganized. Expect to wait 2-3 hours getting to and leaving the fair because the parking situation is so bad. Food stalls are a 30-45 minute wait. You spend more time on lines with no direction than you do enjoying what the fair has to offer.
The Faire is nice, but the crowds are awful. Literally everything with food had a long line. Parking is a literal nightmare, having to wait over 2 HOURS to park and an hour just to get out. They let too many in and don’t have the space. Do better guys.
Worst operations and parking management. A group of us went yesterday and came in with three different cars. It took each of us over an hour to just navigate the last 2 miles of the route. Absolutely horrific. In addition, one route was blocked from through traffic. That was after waiting in line for 20 minutes to reach a car that told us to turn around. Why didn’t they put a sign at the road entryway and save people’s time. It also took our friends 90 min to exit the property when they left at 630p. Like what is this? You can’t tell me they didn’t know the volume of people that attend this… plan and coordinate better. I will never attend this again. Not worth it 3 hours of sitting in traffic to and from for the last 2 miles.
The renaissance faire boasts a family friendly environment but this event was not. Many families were present but the cost of the event did not align with the lack of activities (games) for children, which still could have been okay because the shows and the grounds itself allows for adeuqate running around and movement. The worst aspects of the fair were the incredibly slow service of food stalls with very overpriced foods, the lack of crowd control made for safety concerns throughout the grounds and especially a way to exit.families sat in traffic exiting the parking space for over an hour with lottle movement making for a very tense and aggravated situation.not enough bathrooms or family friendly ones.
