The Original Pancake House reviews
15Never ate. Food smells good from a distance. As soon as you near the front door a strange odor hits you. Inside the sour smell is unbearable. Take care of whatever it is.
A WNY classic, always worth the wait and usually faster than expected. Everything I've ever had here has been great and we go whenever we're in 716.
The lady that seated us was rude because we asked to be moved a little further back due to the smell of puke from someone just puking. My omelet was undercooked and my whole meal didn't come out together. Also 6 bucks for one glass of orange juice and the glasses are supposed to be a large but tiny as can be. It was not a great experience at all.
Food was good. Had a little bit of a wait and that was understandable. Only knock is they did not prepare our meal as requested, to add cheese to the scrambled eggs, yet they still tried to charge us for it.
We waited over 30 minutes for a table only to be seated in a very cramped room that literally had no room for half my party to sit comfortably. When we asked to be moved, the hostess was visibly upset with us and downright rude. One of the servers even argued with my husband.
We were finally seated at a more accommodating table and our server Ashley was wonderful. She did her absolute best to turn the situation around.
The restaurant could use a deep cleaning as the lobby area had a strong smell of puke.
Who doesn't love the pancake house. My dad and I always get banana pancakes, and orange juice. Best OJ around not even comparable.
Local spot that's popular for breakfast and brunch.
Their prices are reasonable and service is fast and friendly.
I had their sausage patties that is served with their butter pancakes.
Portion wise, it's worth it.
Great food, and they give you plenty of it! The atmosphere was a little loud which was the only downside.
Have been coming here for pretty much my whole life! Grandma always got the apple pancake (it’s HUGE) and Mom the Dutch Baby. Me? I have a thing for the crêpés! Coffee is good, and the OJ (while a little pricy) is delicious and always fresh. I love the applewood smoked bacon, too. You can’t go wrong with a breakfast here! The servers are always really nice to me and my friends when we come, and it usually doesn’t take too long for a table (depending when you come. Longest I’ve waited was maybe 30 min).
Very fast service. Food is still amazing after not eating there for a few years. Best pancakes in town. That is the reason that they are always busy. However they seat you very fast. The only caveat is when meeting friends there they won't seat you until everyone arrives.
Food was ok but not great. Restaurant itself was not as clean as it should have been. We sat in a booth, and there was food stuck on wall. Carpet needed to be vacuumed. On a positive note, our waitress was great. Overall, not what I would expect from a business in Williamsville.
Well food portion small for the price.
I'm just comparing it to the nonoriginal Pancake house.
Whenever we're back in Buffalo to visit my wife's family, we stop at The Original Pancake House. It's one of their favorite spots.
Honestly I've only ever done the Mushroom & Cheddar Omelet that comes with the Potato Pancakes, and it is always great.
Thick, fluffy omelet topped with a sherry sauce, and jam packed with huge mushrooms and cheddar cheese. It's both delicate and savory at the same time. The potato pancakes are standard fare, and usually are spot on. Sometimes you can tell the potatoes are at the end of their life, and a tad sour.
My wife always gets the absolutely massive Dutch Baby. She loves it, and it's usually good for two servings because of its size.
Coffee is standard breakfast spot coffee, but hits the spot. The staff is always super friendly, and the recent renovations are very nice.
Great breakfast! Delicious pancakes, really enjoyed the Dutch pancake and berry pancakes! The compote was to die for! Enjoyed this place a lot!
