The Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center reviews
11Sometimes there are unique finds but not always honorable pricing or service. I took a picture frame to the register that had a blue sticker price of $8 and would have been $2 with the 75% off per the sign at entrance. The manager peeled the sticker off and stated it needs to be re priced to $10. She did not honor the sticker price or sign. As others have stated here, what you may think is a price in the store may not be honored at the register.
I'm not impressed. Used to shop here before the renovation. First floor sparsely stocked and clothing is upstairs which requires either climbing stairs or using freight elevator. Staff is very friendly though.
I love going to the Salvation Army I just wish they were a little more organized there's no way of knowing what sizes are in the clothes until you take it off the hangers no but nothing is in any kind of organization especially in the men's wear
The prices on the wall mean absolutely nothing. According to the cashier "it's an old sign" well it's been wrong for quite some time. But she's says not the stores problem. Asked "manager" and she says the same. And gives me a number to talk to someone. Well that went nowhere as it was for a Adult Rehab center. They give me a number to some upstate office that could not help but take information and email it on. Then gives me a nyc number to the Manhattan Adult Rehab center. Place is dirty and unorganized as well.
Been good in the past. Today their was zero furniture and prices seemed much higher than usual and not much inventory.
Well organized and clean.very friendly staff.forgot my wallet and they held my purchase until I came back. Good deals!
Good selection, fast turnover of merchandise, good prices, daily special colors giving discount. This location no longer carries VHS tapes.
Things were out of size order. Not much variety of anything. Not sure if the upstairs part of the store was open to customers. I did see a few cute pieces. I'm sure with more staff this building will be running as predicted
In dealing with Mom’s passing we had a trailer load of donations, including some gently used furniture. I called before we moved anything, to confirm they could and would accept what we had. They told us via phone that they accepted all we had, save the bed itself, and that we should “bring it right in”. So, we removed our sliding door to get the pieces out of the house, loaded the trailer, strapped in t all down and made the 30 minute drive to the store. After our items were reviewed by their staff, were directed to the storage area in strapped everything, but we were stopped just as we had picked up a dresser. They told us they could not take the furniture because they were “full” despite the over 1000 square feet of open floor space in the storage area. If the furniture were battered or damaged I might understand, but we had a bedroom set and sleeper sofa that was less than a year old and very well maintained. Donations on Long Island have become very difficult and managing staff have developed an overly privileged attitude, as if they are doing you a favor in accepting any donations at all. I explained the fact that we called to confirm first, the resources expended in the effort alone, mom’s passing etc but it all fell on deaf ears. I will NEVER donate to SA again and plan on sending their national leaders a letter on how we were treated. Do yourself a favor and go to Good Will when you have donations as these guys clearly have little care for people in general.
The address listed, 414 W Main Street is incorrect. Please update the location so that people can find the store. Took me 30 mins of aimlessly driving around to locate so I could donate items
