I rented a one bedroom for a year 2021-2022. I loved this place. The building is old, but I got new appliances when I moved in so maybe I’m biased. Maintenance guys are nice and they are pretty quick. What surprised me were the reviews about the doormen. I loved the staff and doormen there, which is one thing I missed most about the place. They were always really nice to me. The location is also amazing! I wish I signed a longer lease and locked down the covid pricing. But unfortunately had to move because of the market price right now.

I felt pretty safe at the Sloane. I had to “check in” all of my friends before they came over. And I always see the doormen checking the delivery guys so it made me feel safe knowing they didn’t just let anyone into the building. I would definitely recommend signing a lease here but definitely read thoroughly through the lease agreement before signing!

Ugh where do l ever begin….
Horribly managed building! Most guys at the front desk are extremely rude! Lets NOT forget about $50 charge if you lock yourself out! Beyond ridiculous! Construction 24/7 even at night! The last they can do is update the windows! Barely any heat at winter! So cold! Stay away!

Update: originally three, now at most 2, it is so loud at night (constructions and roadworks past midnight) … luckily I’m moving away soon. They also charge you at least $50 if you are locked out. Stay away if you can.

One star for the location, one for some friendly neighbors, and another for a very friendly doorman. Aside from that, I won’t recommend this place as your home.

It is SO noisy (I was in a unit on the higher floor that faces the 9th Ave). You heard car horns, vehicle passing, fire trucks ALL THE TIME, sometimes there’s even construction noise past midnight (not sure if that’s even legal!) The management can’t control the noise but at least they should seriously upgrade the soundproof of the windows.

For an apartment this price, you would expect to have washer and dryer in unit, but there aren’t any. Doormen are more of a hit-and-miss try-your-luck kind of a deal. Some are definitely much nicer than the others.

We haven’t had gas in a month and counting. There is construction at ALL hours of the day. Management will come in to check your stove then leave your door propped open all weekend. Avoid at all costs.

Can confirm, stay away. Bad building management. Water shuts off periodically for hours. Doormen are indifferent and unprofessional at best.

Location was terrible and felt unsafe (the surrounding area was fairly empty and dirty). Doorman was rude and not observing mask protocol. Apartments were nothing special and not worth the asking price, especially when there is a glut of luxury apartments in Hudson Yards.

The neighborhood has become very unsafe to live in after COVID, as many of the homeless population has taken residence down the streets. The apartment building also gets mice and cockroaches - for how much I'm paying, come on that's just unacceptable.

Also, the management and doormen are insanely rude. I've lived here for a year and was disappointed since day one.

I just moved out of this apartment building - was lucky enough to get one of the renovated units right after they finished work, so I'm sad to leave. The doormen ranged from chill/indifferent to friendly/useful, which I'm totally OK with. I think they've done a decent job making an aging building attractive to someone looking for a nicely finished unit without being in a supremo luxury building. The new in-unit finishing is pretty great - pleather lined sinks and med cabinets, slow-closing drawers and cupboards. The common areas like the gym and laundry rooms should be updated soon to keep up with the rest of the common areas.

I wasn't able to work out a renewal with the landlord, but didn't have any issues with them (though I was a bit surprised they weren't willing to adjust my rent even towards the covid-market rates). Note that between the front entrance and the 8th Ave subway, there's an AMC that has closed down due to the pandemic and its generous awning has attracted some homeless folks who are looking for shelter.

I must say, if you're considering moving here - the construction noise you will face will be impossible to avoid. With an old building like this, you are going to have a hard time - surrounded not only by construction work on the new Manhattan West building and the new Penn Station, but also consistent road/wiring work along 34th, involving drilling, that often starts at 8p and ends around 5am. I spoke to the foreman of a couple of these sites about 'how many weeks' more they expected this to go on and was sort of laughed off with a 'more like how many months or more, bud'. Further, on the internal forum for tenants, people would regularly share complaints like the one attached and it is in line with my experience. I am not a light sleeper, but found myself to become increasingly anxious and sensitive to the noise in the final months of my occupancy. You can't really deal with construction noise with white noise or earplugs when you *feel* the tremors in bed.

I feel like The Sloane would be a great place to live in a couple of years when the surrounding area stabilizes a bit and more units complete their renovations. I'll miss my apartment and some of the staff, but I will not miss the sleepless nights.

I have been living here for more than an year. Now the water stops due to pipe constructions at least once a month. Even sometime 2-3 time a month. I even had to go to gym and do shower.and concierge is very rude.
All around the building is in construction, and the sounds is bothering me so much for night and morning even for 6 clock in the morning.
Actually a lot of neighborhood went out to other building
please be considered to get an apartment here.today again, water cut
