The Soul Spot reviews
15Turkey wings, mac and cheese, and yams is what i ordered. The smothered turkey wing were good but themac and cheese was disgusting, the cheese tasted sour. I have eatn here before but this time was horrible.
The food was good but staff sanitation could be better. I was visiting and there was a tall gentleman who worked there and was outside of the building on the phone. He originally was behind the serving station but stepped out for a call. While on the phone (outside) he started picking in his toes, yes, is bare toes. He then proceeded inside and with his bare hand he began to straighten and sort out the plastic silverware by the door. I would have said something but I was about to cross the street (trying not to get hit). To get into my Lyft. This was around July of 2019.
Perfect combination of Caribbean and soul food. Everything was very well done. The meat was tender spices were on point. The okra was my favorite. Lord have mercy! The staff was super sweet. I wish they had a little more space for sit down dining because it's so good you don't want to wait. Also it would and allow for them to have more than one server cashier to cut the line down. But I came during the lunch rush program. It might not always be that busy. Amazing, delicious and authentic. Make sure you get your cornbread!
The food was greasy and full of oil as if the food was cover with oil instead of gravy. Do not waste your time. Very simply, go elsewhere. The food goes straight through you.
A cute hidden spot in Brooklyn. The food was amazing. The handmade strawberry lemonade is my favorite as well. I would just add ice to the drink so that it taste even better. But that's my personal preference. My son enjoyed the chicken. It definitely reminds me of southern soul food. It is a must try if you're in the area.
This type of flavor does NOT belong in this neighborhood! Good lord. I grew up eating all kinds of Caribbean food and this places smokes my mama. I even took her here and she loved it.
They just redid the interior, but good to know the food has not changed! You can taste the love in every single bite. The chef is out of this world. Wish I could give more than 5 stars
This review was long over due. My brother just ordered food from here and we shared the same sentiment. I was excited to try this spot after walking by it a few times. Sad to say but, I wish I kept on walking. Highly disappointed and annoyed that I cannot get my money back after forcing myself to eat some of the food I purchased. The presentation of the meal was unappetizing and I was left nauseated.
The food was salty and old, if your looking for authentic soul and Caribbean food this is NOT the place to go. I was truly disappointed after driving from Westchester county to try this place. Save your time and money go elsewhere
I was really looking forward to there grits unfortunately they didn't have any but everything else we purchased taste really good.
My husband and I really enjoyed the food.
The portions are very generous and delicious.
The service was quick and kind.
We highly recommend this eatery.
Would certainly recommend trying out this place. Awesome mood, tasty food, good service. I recommend this place.
The food is freaking amazing and I would recommend you to try this spot out. They have one of the best menu selections in all of NYC.
I've supported this black business since the first day it opened. Original KINGS COUNTY Brooklynite since 1975 keeping it 100, asking a real simple question.is there a new cook cheffing up the goodness? Significant drop off, very disappointing. I was reluctant to share b/c I don't wont to be perceived as negative against "our communities" business but we gotta keep it real with each other. The cornbread is better, the rest (sweet potatoes / collards / mac & cheese / meatloaf etc). Room for improvement to be kind. With Love!
The service was excellent, and the food, delicious. I had the jerk chicken, and it different to what I normally buy ; so juicy, flavorful and tender. Will definitely visit again soon
